**Laura's POV:**
The next day, Malachi and I were lounging in the living room, still on a high from our romantic date the night before. Suddenly, Milo and Meg walked in, big grins on their faces.
"Hey, lovebirds," Milo said, winking at us. "It's your turn to make lunch for everyone."
Meg nodded in agreement. "Yeah, and it's up to you two to decide what to make. Surprise us!"
Malachi's eyes lit up with excitement. "I've got a great idea," he said, pulling out his phone. "I'll message the group and see what everyone's in the mood for."
He quickly typed out a message and sent it to the group chat. Within minutes, the responses started rolling in.
"Mexican!" Milo voted.
"Tacos, please!" Freya chimed in.
"Agreed, Mexican sounds amazing!" Mk added.
Malachi grinned, looking at me. "Looks like it's unanimous. We're making Mexican!"
I smiled, already imagining the delicious flavors we could create."OOooO tacos, yes please!"
"Let's get cooking, then!" Malachi took my hand as we walked to the kitchen.
Malachi and I stood in the kitchen, surrounded by the vibrant colors of fresh ingredients. We were on a mission to create the ultimate Mexican feast for our friends.
"Okay, what's first?" I asked, my eyes scanning the array of vegetables, meats, and spices.
Malachi grinned, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Tacos, of course! We need to make the perfect taco meat."
I nodded, and together we began browning ground beef and onions in a large skillet. The aroma of sizzling meat filled the air, making our mouths water in anticipation.
As we cooked, we chatted and laughed, our movements fluid and synchronized. It was like we were performing a culinary dance, each of us knowing exactly what the other needed.
Once the taco meat was simmering, we moved on to preparing the toppings. Malachi expertly diced tomatoes and cilantro, while I sliced avocado and lime wedges. As we continued to prepare the Mexican feast, Malachi's expertise with the knife was impressive. He chopped and diced with precision, his movements swift and confident. But in a split second, his focus wavered, and the knife slipped, slicing into his finger instead of the vegetable.
I gasped, my heart skipping a beat as I saw the blood well up from the small cut. "Malachi, oh no!" I exclaimed, rushing to his side.
He winced, his face contorting in pain, but he tried to brush it off. "It's fine, Laur, just a small cut."
But I wasn't having it. I quickly grabbed his hand and pulled him to the sink, turning on the cold water to rinse the blood away. He hissed in discomfort, but I held his hand firmly, trying to stem the bleeding.
Once the bleeding had slowed, I let go of his hand and dashed to my room, returning with a small first-aid kit. I pulled out a SpongeBob SquarePants band-aid, which made Malachi chuckle despite his discomfort.
"Really, Laura? SpongeBob?" he teased, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
I smiled, relieved that he was okay. "Hey, it's the best I've got!" I said, applying the band-aid to his finger and leaving a kiss where I had placed the band-aid.
Malachi laughed, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Well, I guess I'm officially a part of the SpongeBob fan club now."
I playfully rolled my eyes, but inside, I was still worried about his finger. "Just be more careful next time, okay?" I admonished, trying to sound stern but failing miserably.
