The gamble of love

Jo's POV

After I finished unpacking and went out to the deck where I was greeted by the staff with a cocktail. I thank them and went to sit at the table. I pull out a packet of cigarettes and lit one. Yes I know, it's just a really bad habit. I was sitting there enjoying the silence when I hear a voice behind me, "Oh so now she smokes?" I turn my head and once again meet eyes with Lando. "Oh, uh, yeah. Bad decisions" I stutter laughing nervously. "Where's Carlos?" I ask him. "He's taking a shower" he answered. I nod my head. "Uhm, can we talk about what happened between us? I really don't want things to be awkward between us anymore" he says. "There is nothing to talk about Lando. We were young and foolish. Things between us would've never worked out anyway, we live completely different lives. You moved on and I am trying to as well." I state. He looks a bit sad and disappointed with what I just said as if he was expecting something different. "Let's just pretend nothing happened and go back to being friends, yeah?" I ask him and he slowly nods. "Yeah sure, friends." He says. I finish my cigarette and decided to also go take a shower, it was getting late and this Charles person is still not here. We are going to have dinner in a bit so I wanted to get ready.

I go to my room and get my cosmetics bag and a towel and head to the bathroom, closing the door behind me. I quickly washed my body and also my hair. I got out and wrapped the towel around my body. I did my skin routine and then make my way out of the bathroom to get dressed. As soon as I open the door I see a guy standing by my bed his back faced towards me, I yell.

He turns around really fast with wide eyes. "Who the hell are you?" I ask him as he really gave me a fright.
"I'm Charles.. uh I'm so sorry I didn't know this room was taken." He said and looked sincere. This boy is beautiful. We just stare at each other, I can feel myself turning red and he smirks at me. Soon after my bedroom door flew open and Carlos and Lando came running in. I assume they heard me screaming and wanted to see if I was alright. Carlos looks at me with a raised eyebrow and then I realise I am standing there with just a towel around me.
"Well I finally met your friend" I say laughing nervously. Charles then started to explain what happened and Carlos understood and laughed with us but Lando looks fuming. I roll my eyes at him, "can everybody please get out of my room so that I can get dressed?" I ask and they all chuckled making their way out the door, then Charles turned around to face me. "It was a real pleasure to meet you, Jo." He says winking at me and then leaves the room. I walk over to the mirror and I look like a tomato. I roll my eyes at myself and got dressed in a cute dress with sandals, I am not doing anything for make up and just letting my hair dry naturally.

I walk out and see everyone sitting on the deck. I go to join them as they are of course talking about F1. I got bored with the conversation and took out my phone to snap a few pictures. I send it to Taylor and tell her about Charles. We texted for a bit when I hear Lando's voice, "Someone is being really unpersonal" he says and I just glare at him. I lit a cigarette and Carlos stared at me with wide eyes, "Don't start" is all I tell him and he looks away. Shortly after they brought out our dinner and we all started to eat. Tomorrow we are setting sail to the Island where we will be for a while and I am so excited. I have never been on a vacation like this before. It feels like a dream come true.

After dinner we decided to play cards. It was really fun because I keep winning. I laugh at them as they can't stand to lose against me. I feel eyes on me the whole time, when I look up I am met with Charles' eyes, he gives me a smile and I smile back. How is he so gorgeous?? I was staring a bit to long as I see him starting to smirk. I blush and turn my head away quickly. We finished the game and all decided to go to bed, it's been a long day. I got to my room, making sure to lock the door this time. I dressed into my pajama's and climbed into bed. I was scrolling though my phone when I see a text from an unknown number.

- I hijacked your brothers phone to be able to get your number. Just needed to tell you, you are beautiful and I am looking forward to getting to know you. - Charles.

I blush like crazy, feeling like a teenager. I decided not to respond. Playing a bit hard to get but also remembering my brother's rules about not getting involved with his friends. And I also think about my situation with Lando. I really do not want to go through that again.
