everyone's back inside in their own homes. I go to Daryl.
"something up" he asks
"I just wanted to say thanks."
"for what" he always has the same expression on his face.
"for being there for me." I smiled.
he nodded and patted my shoulder then I left the room.
~chapter break~
"let us go." Rosita says. we're all together by the gates the separate where we were before and where we are now. but I don't just see it as where we were, I see it as who we were. I never got to see how people were before the apocalypse, but I know it wasn't like this.
"I can't let you go back." Mark says.
"we made our decision. we don't wanna stay here anymore." Glenn speaks up.
"and why is that?"
I step forward. "because the way you run things around here, the way you blame people, it isn't right. we want out. I wasn't born before all this happened but I know that I'd rather be with those flesh eating monsters than here."
there was a long moment of silence before Mark broke it. "you didn't kill that boy. we understand that. but you're not safe out there."
"is this place real" I say looking at my shoes.
no answer.
"IS IT!?" I look at him.
"the letter you found at the white house, it was real. until an American decided to flee the land and sail to Asia. then it spread." another long moment of silence.
"if this place isn't what they say it is...then where's the other side of the wall?"
"this community-"
he gets interrupted by the PA systems. "LURKER IN THE BACK GATES! LURKER IN THE BACK GATES!"
we all look at each other. my dad smirks. "welcome to america, canadians."
~chapter break~
"should we help them?" Tara asks.
"no, we stick together. I say we bust out of here." my dad answers her.
"Rick, we finally have a chance to start over. its just like Alexandria. we can live here." Glenn says.
"I don't wanna be here a second longer." I say looking at the ground. I look up. "I'm sorry Glenn but we've gotta keep moving. this place isn't safe."
everyone agrees and takes back their weapons.
"let's go."
