CHAPTER TWENTY
hidden problems
•
AT 1:17am, charlotte was tip-toeing gracie's apartment and slowly making her way downstairs to the fridge. she went the whole day without a drink and was feeling the pain of it way too heavy now, and even gracie's arm wrapped around her wasn't enough to let her fall asleep soothingly.
she spotted her purse on the kitchen counter and let out a sigh of relief once she pulled out her emergency flask. she took a long swig and threw her head back, already feeling her headache simmer. she took another before collecting some self control and closing it up, carefully hiding it under other objects in her purse.
she wiped her coated lips and got the bright idea to quickly brush her teeth so the smell wouldn't linger in the morning when gracie kisses her awake.
-
"try again, you got it, its okay," gracie chuckled as charlotte covered her face and groaned in frustration. gracie cleared her throat and looked back to the top of the script she was helping charlotte memorize. "what's your fucking problem, abby?" she grumbled, trying to sound like press.
"nothing! just shut your mouth and come back here. quit acting like... like... fuck!" charlotte picked the script back up she was trying her best not to look at and flopped back onto the couch, resting her head on gracie's stomach and wrapping her arms around her.
gracie laughed and brushed through her hair. she found charlotte's voice with a stuffy nose both cute and funny as hell, "let's just practice it later, you're not even doing this scene till next week, right?"
charlotte nodded.
"wanna go for a drive?" gracie asked. "fresh air should be good for your cold, hm?" she offered, still floating in the honeymoon like mood they've had all day since they're back together. again.
"sure," charlotte replied. "what do ya think, weenie-boy?"
weenie licked her foot in response.
"mm, perfect," charlotte sarcastically said and glared at him. "i gotta go back to my place later tonight."
"can i come?" gracie quickly asked, getting a stern look from charlotte since it was already well known that gracie had work early tomorrow morning. "cmon, you're sick, i wanna take care of you," gracie pouted.
"one, you have an interview in the morning. and two, it's just a cold."
"exactly, it's just an interview and... i don't know, what if you don't feel well enough to do anything, like get a glass of water," gracie shrugged.
"okay," charlotte sighed, falling victim to her brown eyes. "but if i get you sick—"
gracie pulled charlotte close and kissed her lips, "too late."
charlotte let out a long quiet breath and fell backwards onto the singers legs, her own still wrapped around gracie's waist. gracie ran her fingers along the bones at her waist. she smiled, content and truly happy for however long charlotte would be next to her today. she's knew she was still in whatever... mood? she's been in for the past while, but it got drowned out when charlotte's with her, like it always was. but with how bad it's been recently, gracie was kind of wishing she could just keep charlotte in her pocket at all times, and at the same time, keep charlotte was unaware of it all as possible.
