CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

WHILE gracie was sound asleep in a pile of blankets on the couch after falling asleep near the end of the movie, charlotte carefully slid the singers head out of her lap and sat at the island with her laptop, glasses on, and a iced coffee for hours. it was now 5:31am, and she was still researching every article and PHD essay about helping against anorexia and depression, and also about what it feels like for someone to be going through it. she had a google doc open for notes she was taking on the stuff that she thought could work for gracie and the symptoms that she has and how to be there for someone in a way that won't set them off.
she discovered a bunch of rehab facilities that help with eating disorders and though they seemed helpful, charlotte didn't entirely trust places like that just from how 'hostpitally' they look overall and some of their rules. they looked like the kind of place that telepathically gives you a lobotomy since you can't really do them the actual way in some places. so ignoring all of those places, she looked into a bunch of therapists and psychologists who specialized in what gracie was dealing with. but her process was picky. obviously gracie should be the one to decide who will work for her and who won't, but charlotte wouldn't even look into the one's that didn't have more than a four star rating.
she ended up falling asleep around seven in the morning in the same chair. so when gracie woke up, confused on why she was on the couch and not in bed, she was even more confused on why charlotte was asleep at the island.
she tilted her head and walked over, "charlotte," she whispered in a sing-song tone. she placed her hand on charlotte's shoulder and gave her a few gentle shakes, chuckling when she realized her glasses were on, "wake up, professor." she slowly took the glasses off of charlotte which made her eyelids flutter open.
"hm?"
"what're you doing?" gracie asked, combing her hand through charlotte's hair.
charlotte raised her head and observed her surroundings and yawned, "oh. i fell asleep, what time is it?"
"nearly nine. what were you up doing?"
charlotte stretched her arms before leaning into gracie's body and resting her eyes again, "stayed up late reading a script my agent sent over," she lied, not wanting to stress gracie with how she was actually up worrying about her for hours.
"oh, what for?" gracie scratched the actress's scalp, looking down at her and admiring the sunlight that crept in highlighting their space. her body was pleasantly warmed up in the cold november air with charlotte snuggled against it
charlotte said the first name of her last sent in script, "remember those old alien movies? they sent a script for a new one, alien romulus. kinda wanna curve back into horror and thrilling stuff. i am the only character in ginny & georgia who doesn't get flamed and made into a meme on tiktok, that can only last so long i fear."
"yeah, still can't believe you're in a show where a guy tap dances for a girls birthday," gracie cringed. "i don't know if i'll watch alien though, i've seen you been kidnapped in two things so far and i barley handled it. is your character gonna die?"
"i don't know, i can't decide on which of these two girls i wanna audition for, kay or rain," charlotte said before yawning big again.
gracie smiled and shut the laptop before scooping charlotte up by under the thighs, "we could go get some proper sleep on it. then go for a walk with weenie?"
"yes and yes," charlotte mumbled, fluttering her eyes shut. "i'll make breakfast before we go?"
"...yeah, okay."
