CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN
i'd go through hell with you
•
"AND you're a fucking magnet for disaster, y'know that?!"
"its not like i fucking planned for it to happen, jude!"
"i mean considering your track record you probably had ample time to predict it but didn't," jude shouted back.
"what the hell does that even mean?!"
"i don't know, you— everything just blows up around you constantly, charlotte. it's fucking exhausting!" he yelled, throwing his arms up and pacing as his twin had her feet glued to the ground and every muscle tensed.
"fuck, jude, you think i don't realize that?! maybe if it didn't for once i wouldn't have even gotten myself to this, you think i'm not sick of it?!"
"yeah but you're not dumb either, charlotte. i know how you're brain works, you're just always too fucking soft to do or say something before it gets too far!"
"oh my god, why does EVERYONE think i can predict shit, i have proven MULTIPLE times that i cant!" charlotte yelled with her arms out.
"and then i'm the one who has to help pick you up—"
"i didn't even want to bother you with this, not even call, gracie texted you! trust me, jude, i know better than anyone else how pathetic my life has been, so don't fucking mansplain my own brain—"
"hey," gracie's voice said.
charlotte turned around and saw her stood at the bottom of the stairs, looking concerned and utterly confused.
jude scoffed, "and having her take care of you, as always—"
"OH FUCK YOU—"
"okay, okay," gracie hurried up, placing a hand on charlotte's lower back and standing close. "why are we fighting?" she said, mainly at jude.
jude sighed, his face softening a tad as he put his hands in his pocket, "fuck, i..." he clicked his teeth and hung his head as charlotte stared at him with those hauntingly sad eyes.
charlotte scoffed, "fucking leave if you're gonna just be an asshole—"
"i'm not being an asshole, charlotte, i'm just trying to understand how you can be so fucking arrogant!"
"arrogant?! you're the one coming in yelling and bitching at me in my fucking girlfriends apartment—"
"yeah, y'know i walked in your apartment to get your fucking cats and the place is a fucking mess. cans everywhere, dishes filling the sink, can't even see the floor in your room with all the clothes and shit it's covered in, since when do you fucking live like that?!"
"i've been fucking busy jude, i'm busting my ass to promote a show and film hours and hours of sci-fi shit, sorry my fucking career is more successful than yours, but that's what it's like!" she yelled, cutting deep with the anger that's been flowing into her more easily with the loss of having a fucking drink.
"yeah?! at least i don't butcher my career. you wanna put alcoholic up on the headlines, really?! right after putting us in the spotlight for fighting with our parents and dating gracie—" he stopped and caught his tongue, swallowing the next words.
charlotte froze too. gracie didn't know what to say. if this was a fight with anyone else she would maybe, but they're siblings— twins, even closer. she's seen them have dumb arguments and stupid banter many times, it's normal for any siblings, but this was vicious and real. and the last person she'd expect to yell at charlotte like this would be jude.
