CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE
careless decisions
•
RIGHT after dropping gracie off at the airport and saying their goodbyes for now, charlotte drove to set for her 4am call time for alien. maya came up with the wonderful idea of texting charlotte her hour by hour schedule to make sure nothing skips her mind with how full it is, and as helpful as that is, each time she reads it she nearly bashes her head into the wheel. the good thing to the future hectic weeks is that she'll at least be a little less anxious since she'll have less time to sit and wonder how gracie is doing with her eating a thousand miles away and her stupid conflicting mom feelings. down side is, is that this also meant less time to drink. well, drinking as much as she'd prefer, considering she has been taking some shots while at work — nothing to make it noticeable in behaviour or affect her acting, but enough to subside worries.
she got out of her car, shades on without the sun even being fully up yet, coffee and keys in hand, and concealer on her neck. she was wearing gracie's light blue low rise baggy jeans that had that extra bag to them on her, and a vibrant yet soft tight and cropped pink cardigan. usually she showed up to set in just sweats, but she never even changed out of her outfit from the get together she hosted last night. meaning she never even went to sleep.
"someone had a rough night," isabela chuckled, walking up to her. not because she looked bad or anything, but the sunglasses move was a dead give away.
"i need an energy shot," charlotte lightly laughed. "god i don't even know what we're doing today."
"testing out that elevator scene stuff, so lot of big emotions and screaming," isabela pouted, wrapping an arm over charlotte's shoulders in sympathy as they headed to her trailer. "hey if we don't go overtime today wanna come over and run through our later scenes together? i'm having trouble figuring out how i wanna go about the part where we say split up—"
charlotte clicked her teeth, "i would but i got some GNG promo to do tonight."
"oh, no worries. what about thursday or friday?"
charlotte shook her head, "to be completely blunt, i literally have zero time for anything fun for a while. but we can try running through the script later when we got trailer time?"
isabela nodded, "yeah, sounds good," she said as they got in the trailer.
charlotte flopped onto the couch and scrolled through her phone as isabela headed to her mini fridge to raid it for the millionth time this month. she saw a video of two kittens wearing cowboy hats and looking adorably up at the 0.5 camera shot and sent it to gracie with along with an 'us'.
"oh hello," isabela chuckled.
charlotte glanced over, seeing her holding up a mickey of some shitty vodka she pulled from the back of the fridge, hidden by energy drinks.
"and what is this doing here, hm? at work?"
charlotte shrugged, "must've accidently put it there when stocking the thing. score."
"a score indeed," isabela agreed. "want me to put it in your purse to take home?"
"ah, yeah. yeah, sure. thanks," charlotte tried to casually say when knowing damn well she'll just move it back to its original spot when isabela leaves.

"these clusters just won't stay will they," her makeup artist muttered, tweezers at charlotte's right eye as her left focused on the screen she was watching videos of gracie perform. the heat from the curling iron aired to the back of her neck and her stylist fussing at her nails and turning over her hands in hers.
