Chapter 39

**Matthew's POV**

I pulled out my phone and dialed a number, trying to keep my voice low as I walked. "Hey, Vinnie," I said, trying to sound calm.

"What's up, Matt?" Vinnie's voice came through the line.

"I need a favor," I said, scanning the surroundings. "We've got a situation here."

Vinnie's tone turned serious. "What kind of situation?"

"We're being followed," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "I think it's one of the Masked Figure's people."

There was a pause on the other end of the line. "What do you mean?"

"I don't know for sure," I admitted. "But I saw them earlier tonight, watching us. And now we're being followed."

Vinnie's voice was firm. "Get your people to safety and meet me at the usual spot. I'll bring some backup."

I nodded, even though he couldn't see me. "Thanks, Vinnie. I owe you one."

I hung up the phone and turned back to the others. "We need to keep moving," I said firmly. "And we need to get to Vinnie's ASAP."

Shameka nodded, her eyes scanning the darkness. "I think we're being followed by one of the Masked Figure's people," she whispered.

Ashley's eyes went wide. "What does that mean?"

Shana shook her head. "I don't know, but we need to get out of here."

Jessica Lilith's voice was firm. "We stick together and keep moving. We can't let them catch up to us."

I nodded, feeling a surge of adrenaline. We were in this together, and we would get out of this alive.

As we walked, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched. And I knew that the Masked Figure would stop at nothing to get what he wanted...
