Chapter 42

**Shana's POV**

I crouched behind the dumpster, my heart racing as I peeked around the corner. The Masked Figure's people were closing in, their flashlights casting an eerie glow. I could see Matthew and Vinnie fighting off the attackers, but there were too many of them.

Suddenly, a figure appeared beside me. "Shana, we need to go," Shameka whispered urgently.

I nodded, and we crept out from behind the dumpster. Ashley was right behind us, her eyes wide with fear. Jessica Lilith was covering us with her gun, trying to keep the attackers at bay.

I saw Matthew and Vinnie take down one of the goons, but there were more coming. We needed to get out of there fast. Shameka grabbed my arm, and we made a run for the SUV that had just pulled up.

I could hear the sound of gunfire getting closer and closer as we reached the vehicle. The door swung open, and I dived inside just as it closed behind us.

As we sped away from the chaos, I turned to Shameka. "What just happened?" I demanded.

Shameka shook her head. "I don't know, but I think we're safe now."

I looked around at the others, trying to process what had just happened. We were all shaken, but alive.

**Shameka's POV**

I peered out the back window of the SUV as we drove away from the danger zone. I could see the city lights blurring by, but my mind was still racing.

What had just happened? How did those people find us? And who was this mysterious driver who had just saved our lives?

I turned to Shana, trying to make sense of it all. "We need to figure out what's going on," I said quietly.

Shana nodded, her eyes still wide with fear. "We can't stay here," she said. "We need to get out of town."

I knew she was right. We couldn't stay in one place for too long, or we'd be easy targets again. But where could we go? And how would we stay safe?

**Alexander's POV**

I watched as Renn expertly navigated the streets, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. We were safe for now, but I knew our problems were far from over.

What did Renn want from us? And why was he helping us? I glanced around at my friends, trying to read their faces. They were all shaken, but determined.

We needed to know more about this mysterious driver and what he wanted from us. And we needed to figure out how to stay one step ahead of the Masked Figure's people.

As we drove through the night, I knew that our survival depended on finding answers fast.

**Jessica Lilith's POV**

I sat in stunned silence as Renn drove us away from the chaos. My mind was reeling from what had just happened. How did those people find us? And who was this stranger who had just saved our lives?

I glanced around at my friends, trying to make sense of it all. We were all shaken, but alive.

As I looked at Renn in the rearview mirror, I saw a glimmer of something in his eyes - a hint of curiosity, perhaps? Or something more?

Whatever it was, I knew we needed to be careful around him. We couldn't trust anyone completely in this city.

**Ashley's POV**

I huddled in my seat, still trying to process what had just happened. We'd been attacked again! And by who? The Masked Figure's people?

I glanced around at my friends, feeling grateful that we were all together again. We'd been through so much already, and I didn't know how much more we could take.

As Renn continued driving through the night, I knew that our journey was far from over. We needed to stay together and keep each other safe if we wanted to survive.

**Lilith's POV**

I sat in silence as Renn drove on through the night. My mind was still reeling from what had just happened - the attack, Renn's sudden appearance... everything.

As I looked around at my friends, I knew that our bond was stronger than ever. We'd been through hell together, and we'd come out stronger on the other side.

But what lay ahead? And how would we stay safe in this city? Only time would tell...
