Chapter 41

**Matthew's POV**

Vinnie's arrangements turned out to be a group of his boys, armed and ready to take on the Masked Figure's people. We huddled together, trying to come up with a plan.

"We need to get out of here," Vinnie said, his voice low. "We'll take care of them, but we need to get your friends to safety first."

I nodded, knowing we had to act fast. "Let's move," I said.

We burst out of the hangout, ready to face whatever was waiting for us. The Masked Figure's people were already closing in, their flashlights casting eerie shadows on the walls.

We made a break for the nearest alleyway, the sound of gunfire and shouting filling the air. I could see Shameka and Ashley ducking behind a dumpster, Jessica Lilith covering them with her gun.

I spotted Vinnie and his boys taking down one of the Masked Figure's goons, their fists flying as they fought for their lives. But there were too many of them, and soon we found ourselves surrounded.

Just as all hope seemed lost, a black SUV screeched to a halt beside us. The door swung open, and a figure in a black hoodie jumped out.

"Get in," he yelled, waving us towards the vehicle.

I didn't hesitate. I grabbed Shameka and Shana, pulling them towards the SUV while the others followed and the figure opened fire on the Masked Figure's people. We tumbled inside just as the doors closed behind us, the sound of gunfire still echoing through the streets.

As we sped away from the chaos, I turned to the driver. "Who are you?" I demanded.

The figure nodded towards the rearview mirror. "My name is Renn. And you're welcome."

I stared at him in confusion as he continued driving. "What do you want from us?"

Renn's voice was calm. "You're in my debt now. And you'll owe me."

The city lights blurred by as we sped away into the night, our fate hanging in the balance...
