Darkstorm padded through the forest following a rabbit. It didn't look like it had spots and it could feed the sick cats. Larkkit and Poppywing died the poison was to much.
The rabbit stopped and began to munch on a strange flower that was a pale pink with white tips and a sweet scent along with red spots.
Darkstorm padded silently towards it. Something about it intrigued Darkstorm and it felt like it was a small spark of hope. Once Darkstorm was near it he woke up in his nest.
Just four sunsets ago his brother was sick and now Maplenose says he's on his way to starclan. He was doing whatever he can to save him but there was nothing he could do.
But that flower still lingered in his mind. Curious about it he padded out of his den and padded over to Maplenose's den. Once he entered he saw Firekit bringing herbs.
"Hello Firekit have you seen Maplenose?" Firekit dropped his herbs and looked at Darkstorm. "I believe she's in the nursery checking on Mousecoal."
Darkstorm dipped his head and left. Once he got to the nursery he saw Maplenose limping back looking deathly. "Hi Maplenose do you know every herb?"
Maplenose growled but nodded. "Well do you know any pale pink flower with red spots on it." Maplenose looked at him weirdly before shrugging.
"I don't even think such flower exists on our territory tonight is the half moon meeting so I can probably ask the other medicine cats."
Darkstorm nodded as the tortoiseshell limped away to the sick cats. Sighing Darkstorm left camp to go and hunt. Once he was far away he let out a loud yowl of greif.
His brother could die at any moment and all because he doesn't know what kind of herb to use. He began to look for prey but he heard chatter from the ThunderClan border.
He looked over to see a patrol containing Deerfur, Flowertail, Tigerlilly, and another he believed was called Thornfur. Deerfur noticed him and called out.
Darkstorm padded over to them careful to not seem weak. "Hi Deerfur it's quite a surprise to see you." The dark tabby let out a purr of laughter.
"It has been a while. Are you ok? You seem thin." Darkstorm looked at his black fur and saw his ribs were visible. "Yeah things are ok just a sickness."
Tigerlilly looked at him with concern. "Are you guys out of herbs? We could ask if we can spare any." Thornfur growled as he backed away.
"This one smells of death should we really trust that the sickness he has won't spread?" Flowertail looked at the brown tom with slit eyes.
"It most likely won't but Tigerlilly we don't even know what herbs they need." Darkstorm lit up and began to describe the flower he saw in his dream to the Thunderclan patrol.
"I think we saw a spotted tree with those kind of flower's." Answered Deerfur. Darkstorm sighed in relief but began to panic as he wondered how he would convince them to give him some.
"We should get some it would be a fox hearted move to just let a clan die from a terrible disease." Darkstorm watched as Tigerlilly tried to convince her clanmates to get some of the herbs.
Thornfur looked at her in shock. "Are you mad? Why should we help this clan?" Tigerlilly looked at him with a glare. "We can't just deny them herbs when they need it."
Thornfur grumbled as Deerfur spoke. "Follow us Darkstorm but be careful a hunting patrol is out." Darkstorm followed the patrol
with gratitude as they led him to the spotted tree."Darkstorm soon smelled the familiar sweet scent of the herb and saw the large spotted tree. Darkstorm walked towards the tree but stopped immediately.
Deerfur noticed and looked at him with a confused look. "Why did you stop?" Darkstorm felt his ears go hot with embarrassment. "I don't exactly know how to climb a tree."
Deerfur sighed as he began to slowly climb the tree. "Wait Deerfur be careful." Darkstorm watched as Thornfur followed the tabby tom.
Soon they both disappeared behind the leaves and soon rustling was heard as the flowers fell from the tree. Darkstorm began to pick up the herb as it fell one by one.
Once Flowertail yowled they had enough both toms began to climb down. Darkstorm dipped his head. "I won't ever forget this you may have just saved my clan."
Deerfur dipped his head as well. "Your welcome Darkstorm we only did what was right." Tigerlilly stepped in front of Deerfur as she spoke.
"I'll take him back to his territory." Deerfur nodded as he led the other two away." Tigerlilly purred as she nuzzled Darkstorm. "Come on Darkstorm you clanmates need you."
Darkstorm nodded as he followed the silver she cat. Soon they were at the border. Tigerlilly nodded at it and Darkstorm sighed keeping his jaws clamped on the herb.
"Meet me by the oak tree later tonight I want to talk actually." Tigerlilly looked at him nervously but nodded. meowing her goodbyes Tigerlilly walked away.
Darkstorm began to run back to camp hoping no one else died. One he got back the scent of sickness hit him again and the fresh smell of thunderclan left him.
He noticed Maplenose was lying on the ground instructing Firekit what to do. The tiny kit was mixing herbs and bringing it into the medicine den every now and then.
Darkstorm padded over to them and dropped the herb in front of the medicine cat. "What is this Darkstorm?" The tortoiseshell looked at him suspiciously.
"It an herb I saw in my dream. I think it's what can cure this." Maplenose looked a him with slant eyes. "I've never seen this herb before where did you find it?"
Darkstorm stiffened knowing he had to lie. "I was looking for prey but I instead found this bush with the flowers." Maplenose was hesitant but called on Firekit.
"Firekit try giving this flower to Bonefur and Shrewleaf but after try crushing it and give it to Morningstar." Firekit nodded and took off with some of the flowers.
Darkstorm sighed and sat down. Whatever this disease was that herb better cure it. Or else he'll never forgive himself if his brother dies.
