Darkstorm walked through the entrance knowing what he was doing was dangerous. He needed Morningstar to lose her last two lives.

This was for the good of his clan. Darkstorm remembered all those moons ago when he just left the nursery. Riverclan attacked their camp.

The words Fishstar shared with Lionstar were clear as day. Maybe the past Riverclan leader was right Shadowclan will fall under poor leadership.

But Fishstar was wrong about one thing. Lionstar's leadership wasn't poor. It was the fact Morningstar was going to take control after him and ruin the clan.

She was careless about her lives and now she could lose her final lives any day. Darkstorm looked around and saw the bright red berries he was warned about.

Bloodstream was right he had to become leader and get her revenge. Darkstorm remembered Wolftail telling him how she saw him frozen by the river.

She was worried and went to go check on him, but after she got his attention he attacked her without warning. When they got back to camp she lied saying a bramble caught on her ear.

Darkstorm was grateful to Wolftail for lying to the clan for him but now he must do what bloodstream has asked him to do before.

He must kill Morningstar and become Shadowclan's leader. He looked around for something until he spotted the bright red color of the berries Maplenose warned the clan about.

Darkstorm looked around and carefully bit a branch off the bush. The branch had some of the berries and leaves attached to it making Darkstorm nervous.

Quickly he put the branch down and looked around until he caught the scent of a frog. Immediately he tracked the scent until he heard the croak of the slimy creature and leaped towards it.

Once he had the frog in his jaws he held his head up in pride as he padded over to the branch with the death berries and looked around before putting his plan to motion.

He carefully opened the mouth of the frog and hooked a berry onto his claw before wiping it off into the frogs mouth. He continued the process until he was sure no more could fit.

He reached his paw to his muzzle to wash but stopped remembering what was on it. He spotted the river nearby and dipped his paw into the water and washed it.

When he was sure any trace of it was gone he purred with satisfaction and went back to where the frog was. When he spotted the green animal again he picked it up and made his way to camp.

When he got to camp he padded over to Morningstar's den to give her the prey to eat. However before he could reach her den Poppywing stopped him.

"Morningstar already has prey take that to blackpelt." Darkstorm froze and looked at the brown she cat with fear. "Is there a question you need to ask?" Questioned the senior warrior.

Darkstorm shook his head and turned to the elders den. His paws felt heavy as he carried them through the camp to the den his father rested in.

Upon arriving to the den he took a deep breath and went in ready for the consequences of what was about to happen. The black warrior noticed him and rose from his nest.

"So your doing apprentice task now." Darkstorm could hear the teasing in his voice and rolled his eyes. "Mousecoal's kits should be apprenticed in two moons."

Blackpelt sighed as he stared at the frog. " I suppose but who will be their mentors?" Darkstorm shrugged and pawed at the ground as he watched his father poke the frog.

Blackpelt looked at his son with a calm expression and sighed. "I know there's death berries in this." Darkstorm felt his heart stop as he listened.

"They weren't for you I didn't mean for it to come to this." Blackpelt shrugged as he sniffed the frog. "I understand why you need to do this. This was for Morningstar."

Darkstorm nodded ashamed that his father knew he attempted to kill his leader. "I guess it is time for me to join starclan. I've missed Cloudfur and now I can see her again."

Darkstorm stared at his father in surprise. The black elder noticed and sighed "I've missed her since the day Shellfoot layed his claws on her."

Darkstorm could see the pain in his fathers eyes as he spoke. "I've missed her scent I've missed her presence. Every day I wished it was just a dream but everyday I wake up and I'm reminded she's gone."

Blackpelt sighed as he bit into the frog. "Now I can be with her." Darkstorm watched as his father started to cough violently and was soon shaking in pain.

Unable to watch his father suffer he closed his eyes and imagined how his father was when he first fell in love with Cloudfur. Soon he couldn't hear the breathing of Blackpelt and opened his eyes to see him still.

Darkstorm felt greif and padded over to his father. He pushed his nose into his cold black fur and whispered his final goodbye. "Until we meet again in starclan."

Turning around to call over maplenose he gave one last glance to his dead father and gave a heavy sigh before leaving the den.

"Darkstorm can you lead dawn patrol?" Darkstorm looked up at Morningstar heavy with greif still. Two sunsets ago he told the clan his father died in his sleep.

They all believed him and they would give him looks of pity for his loss. If only Poppywing didn't stop him from giving Morningstar the poisoned prey Blackpelt would still be alive.

Darkstorm nodded and got up ready to lead the patrol. He left the den and spotted bonefur, Lemurstorm, and Raccoonclaw. Nodding for them to leave they all left the camp for patrol.

He gave his brother one last glance and padded away. Raccoonclaw noticed and placed his tail on Darkstorm's shoulder while walking side by side to him
