Darkstar padded towards the gathering island with Woodheart by his side. Firepelt follow close behind them along with apprentice Orcapaw, named after a rouge who helped ShadowClan back onto their paws after prey began to dwindle. She was his sisters only kit in her first litter.
However moons have passed and Beetleleap just had her second litter with Swiftkit and two others who didn't survive. Ivypaw was close by with her littermates Tawnypaw and Venompaw. They were the kits of Frostfury and Lemurstorm.
Ivypaw was held back due to her breaking her leg as a kit. That didn't stop her though and she's trying harder then ever to keep with her brothers. Orangefleece was talking with Wolftail who padded by with their son Dawnflight.
Seeing how far Shadowclan has came made Darkstar feel proud for his clan. But that also meant cats got older. Darksoul and Mousecoal both retired to the elders den after last leafbare. They both stated that they wanted to share wisdom as elders.
Firefoot died from a horrible outburst of greencough that killed both Maplenose and Bonefur. Shrewleaf died of old age surrounded by her kin. Hazelflower was killed in battle against kittypets who wanted to steal prey and drive out the clan.
Soon the trunk came into view and Darkstar leaped onto it with his clan close by. Woodheart jumped from the trunk after him and trotted over to the area where deputies sat. Nodding to his clan the warrior's and apprentices began to mingle with friends from other clans.
He looked up to the great rock and saw Stonestar, and Robinstar, but no Willowstar. Darkstar let out a loud sigh and assumed she was late as he made his way up to the spot he usually sat in. He looked over to the deputies and saw Greyfur was among them.
Skunkpelt was the deputy but it would seem she either stepped down or died. Looking down at all the warrior's, Darkstar saw kits from cats he knew when he was younger. 'Time really doese fly.' Darkstar thought with joy. He looked over and saw Stonestar with the same tone he had for moons.
Ignoring it he looked over and saw Robinstar who still seemed cold even after the many deaths RiverClan had dealt with. "Hello Robinstar how are things in RiverClan?" The cold aura that surrounded the ginger tom disappeared immediately as he looked at Darkstar.
"Quite well. New kits, apprentices are doing well, warriors are still strong, but Rainpaw should be getting her medicine cat name soon at the next half moon. Obsidianface has been dropping hints for a while now."
Darkstar purred with pride and looked over to the tight circle of medicine cats that spoke in soft whispers the gray she-cat who was the smallest one had her ears perked up listening to every second of the conversation. Darkstar was quite fond if Rainpaw since her ambition to become a great medicine cat was obvious.
"It's about time I still didn't get to properly thank her for sharing some herbs with us during leafbare." Robinstar purred and curled his tail over his paws before sighing. "I just hope I'm around long enough to hear her name." Darkstar gave the leader a surprised glance.
"You'll be around Robinstar. If I remember correctly you lost three lives so you still have six good lives." Robinstar chuckled softly and looked away his expression not being shown to Darkstar. "Yep six good lives to spare."
Confused about the leader's reaction he looked over to loud chatting saw ThunderClan arrived. However Willowstar didn't step up onto the rock. Her deputy Rainboweyes took her place with a greif filled eyes. Looking over to the deputies he saw Deerfur who gave him a nod and went back to chatting with the others.
Taking that as a sign he looked over to Rainboweyes who was speaking with Stonestar. Darkstar soon turned his attention over to the ThunderClan cats who speaking with such a friendly tone. He spotted a sleek black tom talking with Wolftail with glee.
The black tom was Ravenwind, Mousecoal's last surviving kit. Based on the new Darkstar heard from past gatherings he has a mate and a kit who's a full grown warrior. He then looked over to the other side of Ravenwind and saw a young apprentice.
The apprentice had a shiny black coat, and snowy white underbelly, pretty green eyes and a long tail. The ThunderClan apprentice was like his reflection in the water. When he studied the apprentice long enough he turned over to Rainboweyes with questions.
"Rainboweyes who is that apprentice beside Ravenwind?" Rainboweyes turned away from his conversation with Stonestar and spoke with a kind voice. "That's Nightpaw, one of our new apprentices and Deerfur's apprentice, and it's Rainbowstar now." Darkstar nodded and kept his eyes on the apprentice.
Something was off about the apprentice, but Darkstar couldn't put his paw on it as he tried to think about it. He looked back at Rainbowstar ready to ask more questions. "Where did Nightpaw come from exactly?"
Rainbowstar sighed and looked over to Darkstar. "Thornfur said a rouge gave Nightpaw to him saying that she could no longer take care of him anymore." Darkstar nodded and kept his focus on the apprentice still curious about him.
Ignoring Stonestar's call for the gathering to start again he felt the pieces come together when he realized who the kit was. The long tail and sharp ears he had gave away his mother completely. 'Tigerlilly' the name was bitter but there was no doubt that the apprentice was her kit.
Nightpaw was his son. Deerfur was mentoring his blood which means his plan can go into full action. Robinstar went next to announce news but Darkstar's mind was in another place. He could get his son to help him.
If he can gain his son's trust he could take over the clans for Bloodstream. Now he can take revenge. Sneering he began to listen to Rainbowstar as he announced ThunderClan news.
This season shall be eventful for both Darkstar and his clan.
