Lola and her roommates got home from Las Vegas late in the evening and fell asleep almost instantly after they arrived at the door. When she woke up in the morning she reached for her phone to see what time it was to see a text from Bruno.
Good night beautiful. ♥
"Awww. So sweet." she said to herself going into the kitchen to get some coffee. She got ready for work saying good bye to her roommates starting to go to the subway as she always did. She glanced at her phone at the intersections reading her tweets and her stats. I didn't do too bad this weekend. She thought to herself as she got off her train to her office building. Walking into the office she turned to her cubicle seeing her data analytics person sitting in her chair. "Hi, Heather. How can I help you?"
"You've gone nuts the last few hours...what the heck happened?" she asked.
"Not sure. My otd isn't that fierce today." she shrugged.
"Oh my godddd, Lolaaaaa! What did you doooo?" Penny came in a few minutes later.
"What? I just went to Vegas this weekend...what stays in...." she took Penny's phone seeing a picture of Bruno and her holding hands leaning into each other near one of the elevators. "stays in Vegas...until it doesn't."
"How can we make this a bigger deal? How can we get you out there?" Heather asked.
"I don't want to be out there, Heather." Lola told her.
"Excuse me?" Heather asked shocked.
"Yeah. I like him. We aren't going to be Kim and Kayne. He's not about that. And as much as I would like to, I respect him too much for that." she said. "I am not answering any questions that I get about it. I am going to turn in the article I wrote over the weekend and go to my meeting." Lola said putting her purse down taking a sip of water from her cup on her desk walking away from Heather. She knocked on her editor's door quietly asking if it was okay to come in. "Hi, Elena." Lola said tentatively handing her the tablet. "I think this is really good. I just need you to read it over so I can get it over to the copy editor."
A few minutes later Elena looked up at her handing the tablet back. "It's good. I like it. There's a lot of humor in it. I didn't know you had that in you."
"Yeah. Well, when you get a little help from someone with a sense of humor it comes together." Lola smiled.
"Well keep that secret person around." Elena said. "I like it. Also...you were with Bruno Mars this weekend? Is that your secret person?"
"Yeah. It's my secret person. But I want to keep it secret. My roommates know and that's about it." she said.
"There"Well okay. Just make sure you keep it secret, Delores. I don't want you to ruin it." Elena laughed.
"What are you talking about?" Lola asked.
"You do that. You say you're committed and then you just stop....what are you afraid of?" Elena asked.
"Are you my therapist?" Lola asked.
"No. But I've known you for a while and I don't want you to mess it up." she said.
"Oh. And I need to take off the week before the fourth of July and the 6th." Lola said.
"Alright. That's fine. Just write some stuff about being fashionable at the Hamptons this year. Everyone likes those...even if they live in California."
"Yeah. Okay." Lola answered. What the hell even was that? She asked herself.
**
"I wish I could come..." Bruno said to her over the phone two weeks later.
"It's okay. It gives me some time to figure out how I'm going to react to your sisters...." Lola laughed.
"They're fine. They aren't going to bite, Lola." he said to her sweetly.
"I don't know...." she said out loud.
"Lola, stop worrying. You're like thirty minutes away. You can't be that worried about it. They won't be here until tomorrow. It's all you and me tonight while you adjust to the time change."
"So we get to sit and watch Game of Thrones in our pajamas?" she asked. "While possibly..."
"Yes. That's not even a possibly, Lola. I will get you out of those clothes faster than you can walk in here." he told her.
"But so tirrreedd." she whined.
"I'll wake you up, don't you worry your little heart." he told her. They continued to talk while she sat in the back of the car he had called to get her. She thanked the driver dragging her two suit cases with her up the long driveway. As the wheels started dragging she heard a humming voice from the distance. "You really thought that I would make you drag that shit all the way inside?" he asked hugging her tightly kissing her cheek.
"I missed you so much." he said to her.
"I missed you more." she let go of him looking into his sincere caring eyes contemplating going in to kiss him. Gonna do it. Gonna do it. I sure am...She thought to herself as her lips hit his and his hands reached her cheeks pulling her closer.
"You make me so happy." he said into her lips.
"You make me happier." she responded. "But my feet hurt. I need to sit sound." she said after their mini make-out session.
"Come on babe...." he said reaching for her hand as he drug her bags behind him. "Oh and there's Geronimo..." he said seeing the dog barreling toward them.
"Oh hi...." Lola laughed feeling the dog push his whole body onto her.
"Let me give you the tour...." he said pushing the dog out-of-the-way of their path. He talked about his new giant house and the reasons he bought it along with all the things he wanted to change. She listened to him intently waiting for him to take a breath.
"Oh. And this is the bedroom...." he pointed with a smile.
"So are you saying we're going to bed early?" she giggled.
"If you want to..." he said pointing to the TV.
"Yes please...." she smiled at him reaching for her bag. "It is almost 9..and like..4 hours, Bruno."
"I know. I know." he responded kissing her cheek. "Go change and I'll grab the food I had gotten us..."
"Wait...what did you get?" she asked.
"Just wait and see." he smiled walking away.
"Ugh. Fine." she sighed laying down on the bed. "Just for a second...." she said to herself picking a side and closing her eyes.
'Delorrreessss...." he sang walking I with boxes of Chinese food. "Wake upppp...." he sang flopping on the bed. But I don't know if she sleeps soundly or not... he wondered getting up realizing everything he was doing was useless. He reached for her feet taking off her shoes looking over the clothes she was wearing. She can sleep in that.
"Brunnnooo." she moaned. "I'm assleeep."
"I know, Lola. Go to sleep." he kissed her head.
"Okay." she mumbled. Damn this bed is comfy was her final thought before falling asleep for the rest of the night.
