"Please tell me why we're her again?" Lacie asked taking a seat a tall table where Lola, Bianca and Madelyn were sitting.

"Because I had the tickets from my boss and if I didn't come it would have looked bad. Plus Cody didn't want to come." Lola told them. "You're my plus three instead of plus one."

"Ugh. Why are you even still talking to him? He is like a sleazy car salesman with a cell phone...and a child." Madelyn groaned.

"He was fun. The sex was good." Lola told her friend taking a sip of her cherry vodka sour.

"Don't remind me." Lacie said rolling her eyes.

"We said we were sorry for that night!" Lola laughed raising her eyebrow looking up to the side of the room to see if she could find anyone she knew. The fundraiser, a cancer benefit, included a silent auction, some horrible bands and networking. It was the same as all her other events. It gave her an excuse to get out but that was about it.

"Oh my gosh. Is that?" Madelyn asked almost staring at someone in the distance. "Brandon Davis? I haven't seen him in ages. I'll be back." she said jumping up.

"She thinks she has a chance." Bianca responded sarcastically glancing at her phone. "Oh, did I tell you I swipped someone who was coming tonight?"

"You are using me!" Lola joked glancing at her friend's Tinder. "I haven't seen him yet, but that doesn't mean he's not here....oh..." she handed the phone back to Bianca indicating the guy was at the event.

"How are you going to get away from me?" Lola asked Lacie with a sigh.

"Umm, I have cramps?" Lacie answered jokingly.

"Rude, oh my god." Lola answered sarcastically.

"No. I think I'm your plus one tonight." Lacie said. "Until I find someone that's prettier then you."

"Umm, excuse me. I am wearing Top Shop tonight. There is no one prettier then me right now." she said standing up twirling with her hands up.

"Umm. Okay, Lola." Lacie nodded her head.

"This is so fancy, Bruno." Tiara said to her brother taking a sip of her drink.

"Yeah. It is." Bruno said adjusting his fedora taking a sip of his drink the same way his sister did.

"What are you going to buy me?" Tiara joked as they walked toward a big room off of the main room that housed several large silent auction items.

"How about this Chili's gift card?" he asked her.

"Think bigger." she answered raising her eyebrow. "What would you buy Izzy?"

"Nothing." he said flatly.

"Ugh. Okay. What would you buy a girl that you want to see?" she rephrased her question.

"I'm not sure." he answered.

"Whatever." she replied putting down his name on a trip to South Africa. "If you win I'll go."

"Fine." he said swallowing his drink turning to see a girl wearing a white dress with embellished black flowers down the middle of the dress. She wore her dark straight brown hair in a high bun and had on bright red high heels on. Sitting next to her was a skinny blonde girl with stick straight shoulder length hair wearing a mint green mini skirt and a pink top to match.

"Stop staring." Tiara smacked her. "Go talk to them."

"What do I say?" he asked.

"Hi, I'm Bruno." she answered him.

"Oh shut up." he replied seeing the girl in the white dress look at him. "She looked at me. Does that mean she wants me?" he asked pretending to flip his hair as he walked over toward her. "You look familiar...." he said to Lola with a smile as he walked toward her.

"I think I might have interviewed you for like five seconds when you went to the MET Ball with Janelle Monae." Lola answered. Lacie took a step back seeing the shock on his face.

"Well that didn't go as well as you thought it would, did it?" Lacie asked.

"No. No it didn't." Bruno said with a smile. "Really? You did?"

"Don't worry that you don't remember me, Bruno." she laughed at his reaction. "How are you?"

"I'm doing well. My sister just bid on a trip to South Africa for me. She doesn't know that I'm going to take one of the prettiest girls in the room with me...." he said to her.

"Oh...." Lola answered turning her head around pretending to look for someone. "Where is she? There's so many fancy girls here..."

"I like you." he smiled at her. "You're funny."

"Thanks." she smiled feeling her face starting to get red. "Would you like another drink?" she asked him turning around to get away from him because of her blushing. "Wait...." she set her glass down.

"Don't you have a girlfriend? I don't do this thing where I flirt with a boy and get my hopes up that something is...." he interrupted her.

"No. I don't. Not anymore." he finished.

"Oh. Alright. Sorry that was kind of bitchy." she told him feeling him walking a few steps behind her.

"It's okay. You gotta be careful of your heart every once in a while." he responded taking the drink from her hand leading her to another empty table.

"Be careful of your heart every once in a while. I like that. Can I use that in a story?" she asked. "I mean, not with your name. But...I like that."

"Yeah. Sure. And then when I read it I can be like, 'That girl owes me some royalties.'" he joked.

"I can totally say that I had a fabulous night out with Bruno Mars. But then I don't know how you would feel." she answered.

"Maybe it is better if you just keep it between us." he said winking at her.
