"'Spelldrive tournament'?" You asked. "What's that?"
"Dude, (Y/N), you've never heard of Spelldrive?!" Ace asked.
"I've only been here for like a month! I can't become an expert on this place overnight!"
"It's a word-famous sport!" Deuce said. "There's even a pro league and a world championship tournament."
"I ain't never heard of this neither!" Grim said.
"Spelldrive is sport played by competing teams of seven people." Ace explained. "Basically, players battle for control of a disc and earn points by driving it into the enemy team's goal. The team with the most points wins!"
"Sounds a lot like football." You said.
"Football?" Deuce asked. "Say what?"
"Like Spelldrive but with a ball."
"I've not heard of such a game, but I'll look it up the next time I'm at the library." Crowley said. "Perhaps it will yield some sort of clue."
"Oh, man, I just realized that (Y/N) would have a hard time actually playing." Ace said.
"Yeah? Why's that?" Grim asked.
"You need magic to play." Deuce said. "Not only do you move the disc with magic, but you use it to attack and defend too. Even if you could use your Quirk to move the disc, you get worn out by how long you use it."
"The flashier the magic, the better; it's how players show off their skills!" Ace said.
"Yes, quite!" Crowley said. "That is why Night Raven College is known throughout the world as a leader in the sport! This school has produced countless pro players! That's why our interdorm Spelldrive tournaments attract attention even from pro league recruiters. Also, those simply looking for up and coming magicians use the event to scout hopeful candidates. Yes, the tournament is quite an affair. The campus will be full of visitors and lined with various kiosks, and the main event will be captured by television cameras and broadcast worldwide."
"That sounds like the Sports Festival at U.A." You said.
"Sports Festival?" Ace asked. "What's that?"
"The Sports Festival is a great opportunity to get scouted for Pro Heroes for the Hero Course and support agencies for the other classes. It's held over three days, one day for each grade. There's three rounds and depending on what place you finish, you're eliminated. For some students, especially the General Course, it's an opportunity to transfer to the Hero Course, yet the opposite happens if a Hero Course student doesn't do well. It's broadcasted all over the country and I wouldn't be surprised if people all over the world saw it too. Everyone always goes for first place, and the one I went through was almost cancelled."
"Interesting." Deuce said. "So you compete for first place and show off your Quirk for a future job. Why was it almost cancelled?"
"Because a villain attack took place prior."
"I'll have to look up this Sports Festival as well." Crowley said. "Perhaps it could yield another clue."
"It's broadcast throughout the world?!" Grim said. "So you're sayin' that if I were to play in this tournament— and win of course— the whole world would see it?!"
"Of course! Players who excel at the tournament invariably attract great attention. Both from the pro leagues and the public at large!"
"In your case, the magic would barely even matter." Deuce said. "Just having a monster like you out there is sure to turn heads."
