"Okay, now we just sprinkle on a little powdered sugar." Trey said, sprinkling the sugar on the tart once it was cooled off from the oven. "And..."
"Finished!" You, Ace and Grim said, excited.
"Fin...ished...." Deuce mumbled.
"Did something happen to him while you were shopping?" Ace asked you, confused on why the spade marked boy was acting like his childhood was ruined.
"It's best to let him work through it himself." You said. You still felt awful about it.
"For sixteen years, I was so sure..." Deuce mumbled.
"Yeah whatever, I'm pretty beat." Ace said. "Making tarts sure takes it outta you." You nodded.
You looked up hearing footsteps and saw Cater walk into the room. "Hey fam! You looked wrecked." He said. "Are the tarts done? Ooh, those look sooo cute! Lemme snap a quick pic for Magicam!" He pulled out his phone and took a picture of the fresh tarts.
"What, now you decide to show up?" Ace said, peeved by the audacity of the older ginger.
"I just came to see how hard my little newbs were working." He chuckled seeing the others faces. "Apart from (N/N), you all look wiped!" You were exhausted from making the tart, you're just better at hiding your tiredness.
"It's tough work if you're not used to it." Trey stated. "Though some may have a higher stamina than others but, there's no better cure for the ails of fatigue than something sweet from the oven!" He took out small plates, some forks and a knife. He cut one of the finished tarts into slices for everyone and placed them on the plates. "Help yourself to some of this tart."
"Yay!" Everyone said as they took a fork.
"Pretty funny how you managed to show right when it was ready to eat, Cater." Ace said.
Cater chuckled. "Someone's gotta be the official taster!"
Grim's eyes were wide, and the look on his face was like he received a gift from one of the Seven. He was even drooling as he stared at his slice. "That smells so good." He said. "Glossy, chestnuts on top, fluffy cream below... I can't wait another second. I'm going in!" He took a big bite as everyone else used a fork to grab a bit.
"Oh dang..." Ace said when the fresh tart touched his tongue.
"Yuuum!" Cater said. "Liked and subscriiibed!"
"This is like something from a fancy bakery." Deuce said.
"Rich in flavor, yet not too sweet." Grim said, in between bites. "It's like the chestnuts are dancing across my tongue!" He placed his paws over his heart, feeling total bliss.
"Is that... a good thing?" Trey asked.
"It is!" You said. "This has to be one of the best sweets I've ever eaten!" You had never tasted anything like it before. You have to admit that it was better than Sato. You wonder if the two were to bake together, how good would those treats taste. The green haired boy smiled, feeling flattered by everyone.
"Oh, Trey!" Cater said, nudging him. "You gotta do the thing."
"The thing?" His friend in confusion. His face lit up in recognition when it came to him. "Oh... that."
"Uh, wanna fill me in here?" Ace asked.
"What's everyone's favorite food?" He asked, pulling out his pen.
"Me? Probably cherry pie, or hamburgers."
"Canned tuna's at the top of my list. Then maybe cheese omelets, roast meat, pudding..." Grim said.
