Later when I left France with the Philosopher's Stone in my purse and now in my library secret safe where I put the Resurrection Stone and the book of information I gleaned from the books I read in the restricted section of Hogwarts and the dark spells of my grimoires. I hope to place the cloak and the elder wand with them.
I decided to do some RR for a few before dealing with Dumbledore. He's such a pain in the ass. I guess we could hunt down slimey Lucius. It would be more exciting.
After about a couple weeks of relaxing and lab work, teaching and spending time with the family. It was time to work on being prepared for my Lucius Malfoy hunt. I contacted, by owl, Alastor Moody and asked if we could have a meeting away from the Ministry to discuss a delicate matter. I invited him to my home. He responded with a message the next day that he would stop by at 3pm tomorrow, on Friday.
When Mr Moody arrived, I showed him to my sitting room and asked if he would like something to drink.
"Lass, I'm off work, a fire whiskey would be nice." He said and I smiled and got him a glass. Severus walked in the room and cast a muffliato spell and closed the double doors to the room. I asked him if he would like a fire whiskey too and he did as I got my glass of wine.
We all sat down and I said, "Mr Moody, I asked you over today to run an idea by you that I have been contemplating for a while. If you could, I would like your input or opinion on the subject." He looked at me then Severus and took a sip.
"Ok, let's have it." He said as his eye twirled around. He hadn't lost his leg yet, but that eye was eerie. He took another sip of his whiskey.
"I have in my possession an artifact that can find Lucius Malfoy anywhere in the world he is hiding." I said warily.
That made Alastor Moody sit up straighter. "Pray tell, why have you not brought it up until now, girl?" He asked me.
"Well there is a catch. I am the only one that can use it because it's tied to the blood magic of my family. My great grandfather created the compass a century or so ago. Only a Blackthorne can use it. I didn't know of it's existence until I discovered it in my vaults." I said. His expression changed to surprised awe.
"I figured that I have a stake in the finding of Lucius Malfoy or any death eaters he is harboring with him. Think of it as a little bit of payback, but…" I put up my finger before he tried to cut me off. "I want an auror to help in the capture to do this legally. I am not a rule breaker, just a ….. creative thinker and problem solver. What do you think?" I ask him.
"Well, first, how does that artifact of yours work to locate him?" He asked, interested.
"All I need is something personal that belongs to the person of interest, let's say the letter. I would sit the compass on the item or in contact with it and cast the specific location spell for it. It will point in the direction of the said person until contact or a specific erasing spell is cast." I told him. He sat back.
"Couldn't ya just cast the spell and let the aurors use it, until he is in custody?" He asked. I bristled.
"No! I will not be left out of it and neither will my husband. We would insist on going on the hunt. The compass won't work for anyone but me holding it anyway. Look, even my husband can't use the item, and he won't let me go without him anyway. I tested it myself. The needle points due south if anyone else holds it in their hand once activated. We tested it on my husband and children hiding in the manor." I said.
