Darling Dearest - A Squid x Y/n x Zigzag Fanfic

Chapter 3- Lunch

After Stanley and I get settled in, we head out to get ready for the day.
Y/N: Hey, I'm pretty thirsty. Where's the water?
STANLEY: I don't know
He runs up to the kid known as Armpit, who is standing with Magnet, Zigzag, and... Squid. Holy shit. He's shirtless. Why is he shirtless? I mean, I'm not complaining, but... Holy hell! I make eye contact with him again, and I just know I blushed. I actually felt my face becoming hotter and more red the longer he looked into my eyes. His look confused me, though. It wasn't a soft gaze. It was layered with something... Hatred almost... Shit, why am I finding that even more attractive? God, what is wrong with me?

STANLEY: Hey, Theodore, is there a place where we can fill our canteens up with water?
Suddenly, Armpit grabs him in a headlock, and if I were to take a guess as to why his nickname is Armpit... I wouldn't want to be where Stanley is right now.
ARMPIT: Yo, my name is not Theodore.
He pushes him on the floor and leans over him.
ARMPIT: It's Armpit. There's a water spigot over there.
He nudges his head in the direction of the water source. I walk over and help Stanley up.
Y/N: Thanks, Armpit
Well, someone's got to make the peace here. Armpit and the other boys smile at me, except for Squid. He just rolls his eyes. The urge to punch him in his stupid face is strong. Right in his stupid, gorgeous face... As we walk away, I glance over my shoulder and see Zigzag watching me walk away. He's leaning against a wooden post and he's got his shirt sleeves rolled all the way up so that they sit on his shoulders. God him arms... I can see the muscles he's gotten from digging holes all day, every day and wow... I make eye contact with him and he smirks at me. Well, at least someone here likes me.

The rest of the morning goes by, and Stanley and I have just tried to keep out of everyone's way. I've been especially avoiding Squid. I mean, I can't be crushing on someone who hates my guts. That's just painful. Also, I feel kind of guilty for crushing on Zigzag aswell as Squid. If I were to date them both... Anyway, it's now lunchtime, and we all head to the lunch hall. Stanley and I get our food (if you can even call it that. It looks like something a horse chewed up and spat out. At least we get one slice of bread) and we join the rest of 'D Tent' at their table. Zigzag and Magnet scoot down and make room for us. Stanley sits next to Magnet, and I sit next to Zigzag. I notice he moves a little closer to me and my heart flutters. I'm thankful for the temporary distraction before I have to focus on keeping this disgusting mush down and not cripple under Squid's intense glare. Why the fuck does he hate me so much? I literally just got here like 2 hours ago.

X-RAY: So, since you guys didn't dig today, you wouldn't mind giving up your bread to someone who did. Would you?
X-ray leans over and grabs Stanley's bread off of his tray. He then reaches over to mine. If this boy really thinks he's going to take away the only good thing in my life right now, he's in for a real shock. As he reaches over for my bread, I pick up my fork and try to stab his hand. He drops the bread and pulls back.
X-RAY: Alright, chill out stabby.
All the boys laugh, and Zigzag nudges me. I notice Squid smirks. Clearly, he notices, too, because as quickly as it appears, it leaves, and he tries to change the subject.
SQUID: So what did they get you for?
God, his voice...
STANLEY: Stealing a pair of shoes
The whole table laughs.
SQUID: From the store or were they still on someone's feet?
The table continues to laugh. Great, so much for earning any respect from these guys.
Y/N: They were Sweetfeet's.
The laughing stops.
X-RAY: You didn't steal no Sweetfeet's shoes!
As Stanley and I were about to defend ourselves, we are interrupted.
ZERO: Did they have red crosses on them?
We all turn to look at Zero. Wait, I thought Dr. Pendanski said he couldn't talk?
STANLEY: Yeah, they did.
MAGNET: You got Zero to talk...
Well, at least we made a good impression on someone.
