Coral-
"Is there something wrong?" A faded voice speaks out.
"Just checking up." An unfamiliar voice becomes closer. "Looks like her bandages need to be replaced. As well as going to her 4th IV needle. We'll have to get those done in a second. Along with some new fluids for her. Has she been sleeping okay? Anything odd about how she's been resting that she usually doesn't do?" The voice becomes distant.
"Nothing I can think of at the moment. She has been groaning some but she is bit of a sleep talker so..." an unfamiliar laugh is heard.
"How's the shoulder? Has the pain medication wore off yet?"
"Nah it's hanging in there. I'll be fine."
"Looks like it needs a rebandage to me."
"No it's fine I'll wait a little longer I just need all your focus right now on her. When will she wake up?"
"Soon. She needs all the rest she can get. It's very rare for her to wake up in less than 12 hours from now. And don't worry we are keeping a close eye on her. But your health is also as important to us as hers." The unfamiliar voice becomes distant once again. "Okay she's all set. We'll come back in an hour or so with a new bandage and pain meds for you and quick
check up for her."The voices fade into the background and soon vanish.
hours later...
An annoyance of beeping is ringing my right ear. And at the same time my body becomes feeling heavier. My mouth feels dry as well as my lips. Though there is not a single feeling In my face at all. Is it over? Did I make it home?
I drag my eyelids open and my vision blurs clear. I groan as a shock of ache hits my head.
I take a look at my surroundings. There's a big square machine with some zigzags on it going up and down making beeping noises. So that's what's making the beeping. Can someone turn it off please?
I look in front of me to see a TV playing Grownups. I love that movie.
"Peach?" I hear a familiar voice from the other side of the room.
I look over and see River jumping up off the couch he was on and coming over to me.
What the heck? Where did he come from?
"How do you feel? Do you need anything?"
I shake my head no. He then sits in a chair that's closest to my bed and faces me.
"I crashed." I croak out. The memory of me crashing flashes through my mind.
River nods. "Yeah, but your okay now."
"It's over?" I ask. I have so many questions I can feel it, but they aren't coming up somehow.
"It's over." He breathes out. A relief floods my aching body. Thank God.
I look down at my arms and all the needles taped in them.
"What are these?" I try peeling the latexed plastic off, but River stops me.
"You need that. They make you stronger and they make the pain go away." He assures me.
Oh. I don't like how they are just sticking inside of me. Ew.
"That's not true. My face hurts." I reach for my nose to come in reach of cotton taped on it. Again, River stops me. "Why is that there?"
"Your nose is broke, but you won't have that but for another day. If you touch your face it's going to hurt even more trust me."
