Remus stared at his phone with his knee bouncing so fast and hard on the floor that he knew it'd be sore the following morning. Sirius' contact was laid out on his phone, but he couldn't bring it to himself to hit the call button simply staring at it as the minute hand on his wall clock ticked signalling midnight. It was now Monday, three days tallying of his fight with Sirius.
He knew Liliena was right. Of course, she was, with how many times his own mother had reprehended him over the same issues growing up. Not heading others out led him to believe he was always right no matter the circumstances.
With a sigh, Remus frowns at himself picking up his phone from the cushion of the couch and hitting the call button.
Remus holds the phone up to his ear, waiting and waiting. He frowns when he is sent to voicemail. He twitches anxiously as he speaks.
"Hey, Sirius, uh, It's Remus. Can you give me a call when you can? I-I'm sorry. Um, it's a bit late, I figured. But please, call me. Anytime. Soon, preferably." Remus chuckles to himself feeling pathetic. "Again, I'm sorry... I'd really like to apologize... face-to-face... Okay. Bye."
Remus awkwardly hits send before he would second guess himself. With a low sigh, he turns off his phone and tosses it onto the cushion once more. He brings his hands to his face, rubbing his face frustratedly. Not only was it late, but it was also a school day in the morning making the whole situation worse on his behalf.
It wasn't even a full five minutes before Remus got up with the help of his cane. He moves himself into the kitchen, grabbing leftovers of the stew he happily brought home in trade for the cake getting himself a bowl and sticking it into the microwave. The soft wiring of the machine left him in deep thought when a small knock on his door was heard.
Remus held his cane defensively as he approached the door unlocking it slowly feeling weary. No one in the right of mind would knock at this time, so it couldn't be any of his neighbours. And it wasn't just Remus anymore, he had a child to look after in his care.
Remus cracks the door open and his head falls on the doorframe in relief when Sirius's familiar face comes into view.
Remus pulls open his door to its full opening as he sees a weighted-down bag in his hand. He holds the bag out impassively. "I brought this for Teddy from my shop. Seeing he won't be coming with me after school. I know it's late, and it's a school night, but it was my best bet to avoid Teddy seeing me."
Remus looks from the shop bag to Sirius's grey eyes. "Sirius I-"
"Don't bother. You made it quite clear you don't trust me. It's about time I do the same."
Remus's heart fell to his gut. "No. Sirius, please, I'm sorry. I should've, shouldn't have said what I said. Or done it either. I'm in the wrong, and... sure it took me a few days to realize but I'm truly sorry. For snapping at you, for thinking you were giving Teddy the..." Remus inhales sharply. "I'm sorry. Truly. Can you just, come in? So we can talk properly? I have leftover lamb stew. Ana made it today."
Sirius studies his eyes. "I don't know-"
"Please." Remus finds himself begging softly. Sirius still looked hesitant. "Please."
Sirius caves with ease letting out a sigh. He bows his head looking at his platformed shoes that were toeing at the tile hallway floor. "Fine."
Remus smiles. Just barely, but it was there for Sirius to see as he moved out of the way granting access for Sirius to enter his flat. Sirius sets the heavy bag of art supplies down on the coffee table before taking a seat on the couch. "Did you want some-"
