like a sugar daddy?

"mei?"

"allison, i didn't know you were in dallas still," mei said, as she looked behind her to the street.

"how long have you been here? hey, this is my sister-in-law to one of my brothers," allison said as she ushered mei inside.

"i'm sorry to intrude. i won't be long. i just came back from l.a. i've been busy working," mei excused herself. she begin to pat down her body, finding a clip of money and business cards. sliding one out. she found a pen hanging from her bag, scribbling her dallas home number down.

mei handed the card to allison, and checked the time. "call me, we can set up a meeting or something, i gotta get back to my boss. bye everyone. stay safe, and good luck on what you all plan."

"mei— wait. i— executive producer assistant? damn— hey! you should meet my husband—"

"we can do that when we see each other. gotta go pick up dinner. goodnight everyone," mei smiled politely before leaving, and closing the door behind her.

mei returned home, seeing james pacing the living room. one hand was tucked into his armpit, the other with his finger tips bitten ferociously. his head shot up hearing the door open and close.

"you've been gone for four hours mei, it's damn near eight o'clock! the hell were you thinkin' going out there alone this late." james held her arms, shoulders, checking her for bumps or scratches.

"i'm fine, james. don't get your panties in a twist. let me go change. i got food for dinner, set it up?" mei took her shoes off as she casually walked through the house. she set down the bags, hiding the pocket watch and tie clip under her bed.

setting out watch box for five on her dresser. mei changed quickly, as walked into the kitchen-living room area. james set up their dinner for them. upon seeing mei reappear, james restarted his lecture.

"you gonna answer my questions? are you crazy mei! who knows what could have happened? you aren't in california anymore! it ain't as safe here for us," james cried out, his face growing red by the second.

"i went to buy my boyfriends watch. and i ended up finding his sister," mei said dully. her voice lowered in volume as she continued, "i'm sorry i worried you. i wanted to also give you space after earlier."

"mei... it's fine. thank you for what you said earlier. now, wanna tell me about your unique siblings-in-law? and what else you lied to me about?" james released her shoulders, and pulled her seat out for her to sit down. he sat down across from her, and she sighed.
