Her stay here had come to an end. While this could have been an opportunity of her dreams. A chance to learn so much that she didn't know. A way to prove that she was capable of handling diplomatic scenarios. It was better to go back home, and focus on the wedding. Forget everything that had happened leading up to this. That strange event in the garden was just a bad dream. Nothing like it had happened here, and she was starting to feel better. Maybe a change in scenery had helped. Maybe this visit was a part of Fate's plans for her. She still didn't know how she had arrived here, nor did she know why. But she could live without knowing.
Or so she told herself as she walked down the stairs, seeing Prince Nyx standing there with his hand out for her to take.
"Ready to go home?" He asked. Freya smiled and took it.
"Yes, this is not my home." She tried to sound thankful for her time here, but she was anxious to go back home.
"I am glad to hear that it has helped you." He took a breath and soon the house changed to lush green fields, a warm sun, and the white stone castle rising in front of them.
She had never seen the gates from the outside like this. In the daylight. In fact, the night before that day had been the first time she had been on this side of them.
"I can't take you inside." Nyx explained, letting go of her hand. "I hope you find peace, Freya."
"I will, thank you." She took a step towards the gates. Her stomach was in knots and her shoulder rose up, it can't be too bad. She turned around half expecting to see Nyx standing there, but he was gone. As she turned back the gates opened up before her, revealing the white stone floor, her heart sped up at the sight, Freya walked inside, ready to face Dorothea.
The castle was quiet, the type of quiet that was depleted of all life. She walked inside, hearing the gates close behind her.
"Hello?" She called out, hearing her voice echo in the grand entrance. "Father?" The Castle looked more empty than ever before. The white stone had turned dull, as if all light had left the castle in the week since she left. "Dorothea?" The doors slammed shut behind her making Freya turn around in panic. "Hello!"
In the corner of her eye, she saw a large shadow jump down from the stairs and Freya turned around, facing her fathers Beast.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, making Freya take a few steps back. "Leave!"
"Father, I don't understand." She said, her voice shaking. The beast took a step forward, the twisted horns, large teeth... She had never seen him like this.
"You are not my daughter." The beast snapped towards her. "You are one of them."
"Who?" He started to walk closer to her, his claws hitting the stone floor, the sounds echoed in the room. She tried to get away, walking back to keep the space between them.
"The band of bastards, half bloods and scum!" the beast screamed, Freya tipped over her feet, falling back as her father came towards her. "You are not my daughter, you don't share my blood, you are nothing. Nothing to me."
"Father-"
"Don't play dumb!" Freya held back tears as the beast stood over her. "A gift from The Mother, my ass, you are a curse." He pressed a paw over her chest, slowly making it harder for her to breathe.
"I-" The pressure grew harder and Freya closed her eyes. The claws started to pick at her skin.
"But now you are here..." the smell of his breath made her eyes fill up with tears. "Did they not want a pathetic female like you? Weak, disgusting."
