She had trusted him, the fact still made Orion speechless when he reminded himself of it.

She had trusted him with her body, with her heart. It should not be a surprise, he was the one she had spent the most time with that wasn't family. But as Amaya now moved in his arms, sleeping and completely comfortable, he wanted it to be more. Of course it was something more. It was a huge step, an important one. One they tried to keep to themself. Mostly to avoid Rhys separating Orion's mind from his body. But it also made this moment feel more precious. That this moment was something only the two of them knew about. A secret so close to them.

Amaya stirred in his arms, and Orion could not help himself as he studied her features. The bony fragile girl from last year was gone, replaced with Amaya. Her skin had a golden tan to it after months outside training, her hair came down to her shoulders without the sand extending it. Her training had built her body up to one stronger, more fit for someone like her. A true leader. A child of the High Lord and Lady. Orion moved a few strands of her hair to the side, taking in her sleeping features.

A month had gone by, a month of this secret, of the two doing their duties at separate places, and then at night she came here. For dinner, or just a full night of fucking. Some nights had also been left to the two just talking. It was mostly Amaya who talked about her day, her training, her lessons. Orion mostly stayed quiet, watching as she showed off the new skills she learned or some simple wards and spells. She was starting to turn into the female she was meant to be, the powerful future leader of this Court.

In some ways he was so far beneath her. An orphaned child, taken in by the Spypaster and his mate, he had no true status or power, he could leave his place in a heartbeat without anyone truly missing him. Compared to her, he was a nobody. Yet she has chosen him, and asked him to be her first. It didn't feel real, it was a dream, but here he was. Living that very same dream. How long did he have before she woke up? Before she started to realise how far above him she was?

Orion let out a sigh, pushing the thoughts to the side. He could try to just accept it, try to not worry about what was going to happen in a future that might still be years, decades away. Amaya opened her eyes, her lips curled up to a smile as she saw him, Orion allowed himself to mirror it, coming down to kiss her as the morning broke above them.

"Morning." He said and continued down her chin.

"Morning..." Amaya placed her hands behind his head, slowly bringing him up to eye level again. She was truly smiling with her whole face and some of the doubts started to fade away, far from all, but some.

"How long before you need to head back?" He asked, hoping to have a long undisturbed morning.

"They have planned the meeting for midnight." She had that playfull gleam in her eyes, "So I have hours before I need to get ready."

"Good..." He started to kiss her again, slowly moving down her neck and chest. He could stay here for hours, slowly worthshiping her, hoping to prove that he was someone to have around. If not for his skills in the integration room, then for what he could do to her in bed. "Then we have time..." He started to go under the covers, ready to worship her like he did the night before.

"Yes..." Her fingers found their way to his hair, playing with it, as he started to kiss her core. Savouring the taste and feeling of her on his tongue. He would take all that she gave him for as long as she wanted him.

Midday had arrived once the two once again laid side by side in his bed, hearts racing with sweat covered skin. He turned his head and found her with her hand stretched out towards the glass ceiling, moving her fingers as her sand swirled and played. Her violet eyes looked unfocused, as if she was far away from the moment. Orion lifted his own hand, allowing some of his own darkness out to play with the sand.
