He didn't know what he felt towards the female sitting before him. She did not look like a monster, but she had an icy edge to her that made him uncomfortable. Even if she was the one in chains, the one trapped without a chance to leave, she looked to be the one with all the power in the room. Her teal eyes were just as cold as her expression, her lips in a grin. And she never looked away, she had locked her eyes with his, and nothing made her turn away. Leaving them in a staring contest Orion feared that he would lose.
"Answer the question." Azriel repeated, he had taken the role of integrator this time. "Why did you kidnap Amaya?" She didn't move a muscle. Orion shifted in his stands, he had been on the receiving end of the stare Azriel now gave the female. He had seen full grown warriors break the moment Azriel entered the room. The space Orion could handle and control, but Azriel. He owned it, every nook, cranny, shadow and flame was at his command. But the female before him did not show one sign of breaking.
"The High Lord and High Lady are on their way, so I recommend that you start to speak now, before they come and make things worse." Threats did not work on this one. Orion could feel it, but his fathers rage was in the way. Anyother in this world would have broken down by now from the way the Shadowsinger stood, from the raw power he admitted. But Doroteha was something else.
"What did The Mother say to you?" Orion spoke up, "She gave you a mission, what was it?" Azriel glared at him, but took a step back.
"She showed me a world, a future." Doroteha spoke, breaking her silence. "I only did what I had to in order to fulfil it."
"What future did she show you?" Orion hunched down before her.
"Demon." She tilted her head, "Why do you care?"
"The Mother forbids a child to be taken from its mother, but you did it anyway. So what future did she show you to justify your actions?" Dorothea leaned back in her chair, neither of them har broken eye contact. "You call yourself a follower of her teachings."
"My sister had a vision for Prythian, and The Mother showed me how to achieve it."
"What was her vision?" Orion pressed on.
"A new era." her grin grew wider and, if possible, even colder. "One where no more High Lords ruled, but us, the Order. One where we returned to a true balance in the world." Orion felt the shivers down his back.
"And to achieve that you needed to kidnap Freya?" He used her former name, the name Dorothea had used.
"One needed to die, the other needed to be moved. Separated from her roots." A flash of Etera from that night returned to him. "She showed me the Texts on how to move undetected. I did what I needed to do to fulfil my sister's vision. The one she got from The Mother."
"How did you read them?"
"The Mother guided me." She tilted her head, "She helps her children."
"How?" He started to lose his patients. "We needed months to decode a few lines."
"I see things, Demon." something changed in her eyes.
"So, The Mother showed you how to use the texts?" Orion raised a brow, hoping that this staring contest could end soon. "Just like she gave your sister a vision about Prythian?"
"Yes."
"Did her plans change now?" Azriel moved behind him, his shadows moved like serpents, ready to strike. "When Freya returned here, to her family and blood?" Dorothea didn't respond. "You were on your way to leave the island, so The Mothers plan must have changed?"
Dorothea broke eye contact, slowly she looked down and started to recite her prayers. Over and over. Orion got up, nodding towards the door. The Priestess would not give them anything else after this.
