BEYOND OUR EYES

Standing at a place where it once was fine,

Is a lone soul searching for answers within.

The eyes wander along the broken windows,

And the world that sparkle beyond.

Dust flies off, afraid of the feet that hurt,

And finds its solace in the swirling winds.

The light shines through it, revealing its gold

And the endless possibilities waiting beyond

The dried-up leaves play its crumbling music,

Loud enough to fill the abandoned room.

A song of the final breath indeed,

And the mark of its journey beyond.

Floors decorate itself with shallow cracks,

Opening a portal deep within, and gives

The green plants a place in its heart,

And to the roots that grow beyond.

The ceiling weeps in despair, as its

Dear old friend has broken in two.

The moss grows in to console the loss,

And says it will be there forever and beyond.

The lone soul picks up a flower that once thrived,

And looks at it with longing for more.

The flower crumples into a million pieces

And gives out fragrance that travels beyond.

The broken window is clinging to its fragile life,

As it hangs onto its companion for needed support.

The sun sets itself to cast its light through it

And beautifies it with rainbows that paint portals beyond.

The soul tells stories that the eyes cannot see,

And the eyes can see what the souls can feel

In a combat between the mind and the soul

There's a meaning deeperand always beyond.
