Kate woke up from her afternoon nap, her phone buzzing. It was a call from Jada. Apparently she had called multiple times. Kate was snuggled up in a blanket on the couch in her and Kara's house, the TV playing an episode of Gilmore Girls, the show she put on before falling asleep. Kara was outside on the soccer field of their backyard, sweat dripping down her body as she did her daily conditioning and ball skills.

Kate looked at her phone, and finally picked up. Her voice still weak from sleep.

"Yes, Jades?" said Kate groggily, rubbing her eyes. "Sorry, I was napping."

"Sorry," Jada grimaced on the other side of the phone. "But! I needed to call you. Guess who I just saw having lunch together on this sunny Saturday?"

Kate furrowed her eyebrows. "Jades, we have a lot of people we talk about. You're making me guess between like a thousand different people."

"You're so sassy," chuckled Jada. "Anyways, no guesses?"

"Nope."

"I saw just saw Caitlin with Connor McCaffrey. Having lunch together."

This made Kate abruptly sit up. "What the fuck? Just now?"

Kate knew Caitlin was still dragging on this whole Connor thing. But to actually go out with him? That's a reach. But that reach became a reality.

"It was like ten minutes ago, I was driving by downtown and then I saw Caitlin leaving a restaurant," said Jada, speaking so fast but taking a break to take a breath. "And I thought it was just her, but then the big dude walked after her. It's crazy, I thought she wasn't going to actually go through with it."

Kate didn't really know what to say, she had just woken up and this was a lot of process. She had a lot of bouncing thoughts in her head. Kate ran a hand down her face and through her hair, peeking out through the glass doors to her best friend who had just finished her sprints. She wondered when Kara found out how she would react.

"Kate? You still there?"

"Yeah, sorry, just processing," laughed Kate, a sigh following. Kate checked her notifications, nothing from Caitlin. "Did you get anything from Caitlin?"

Jada sighed, "Nothing. I'm sure we'll get something out of her soon. Where's Kara?"

Kate looked, and Kara was still outside. This time she was doing her ball skills.

"She's doing her soccer workouts outside," said Kate into the phone. "Why?"

"Oh, I wanted to know if she got anything from Caitlin. They've gotten really close, and I always see Caitlin texting her," said Jada.

There was something of a knowing feeling in the air between Jada and Kate. The two knew there was tension between Caitlin and Kara, it was evident when the two gravitated toward each other in public. The two didn't need to acknowledge or even speak on it. They just collectively knew.

"Well, if you get anything from Caitlin, let me know," said Jada. "I gotta go, a Tuesday reset is calling my name."

Kate laughed, "You too, text me asap. Bye Jades."

"Bye, Kate."

After the call with Jada, Kate immediately resumed her nap. Kara came back inside after her workouts, to Kate still passed out. Kara settled inside, showered and got changed into comfy clothing consisting of linen pants and a black baby top. She started on dinner, and then she saw Kate stir on the couch.
