"Merry Christmas, Kar!" yelled Kate, running into Kara's room and jumping on the girl.

Kara yelped, "Ah! Well, good morning to you too, Kate."

"Get up! I made strawberry pancakes," smiled Kate, before running off like a kid back into the kitchen. "And I used box mix, so you don't have to worry about them being disgusting."

Kara chuckled, checking the time. Kate woke her up at 7:47. Sometimes she thinks Kate is still her five year old self, especially when it comes to Christmas.

Kate was already excited because she said Caitlin gave her and the team gifts after their game against Dartmouth. But Caitlin gave them specific instructions to not open them until Christmas. Kara thought she went all out for Kate, as Kate came in with two boxes and not one.

Kara got up, and kept on her plaid pajamas as Kate insisted, and washed her face and doing her whole morning routine. She walked out to the kitchen, where Kate was whisking her morning matcha and a stack of strawberry pancakes were stacked on two plates.

"I didn't bother making your coffee because I know you like it a certain way," said Kate, pouring her matcha over ice and oatmilk.

"Thanks," smiled Kara, going to make her coffee. "You're up early."

"You know how I am on holidays," laughed Kate. "Besides Thanksgiving, I don't know why it's that holiday that I don't wake up early for."

Kara laughed, sitting in front of a plate of pancakes with Kate. The two settled into eating and having conversation about Christmas and their upcoming schedules. Kate had another game next Thursday against Purdue and Kara was saying how she was free until the last week of January.

"Are you coming with me to the Clark's New Year's party?" asked Kara. Not knowing if Caitlin told Kate yet. Kara only knew and was invited because of Anne.

Kate nodded, taking one last bite of her pancake. "Yeah, Caitlin said to wear black and gold, or whatever. It'll be fun."

Kara nodded, happy that her best friend would be there with her. Even though Kara had become comfortable with the Clark's, she was still anxious about this New Year's party.

"Okay, Kar, swallow your last bite and let's get to gifts," clapped Kate, running off into the living room to organize the gifts. Kara laughed, taking one last bite of her pancakes, and placing the dishes in the dishwasher before going over to Kate.

The stacks of gifts were separated in two sections for both girls. There were various types of wrapping paper as everyone had different themes. The Martins and Morgans left their gifts under the tree when they came for Thanksgiving, and Taylor Swift sent her gifts as packages which arrived yesterday. Kate and Kara took a second to look at the pile of gifts for the both of them, reflecting on how thankful they were.

"Wait, I'm going to open Caitlin's first," said Kate, grabbing the two boxes under the tree. Kate looked at both, and slightly smiled when she saw to Kara scribbled in Caitlin's handwriting. "Here you go."

Kara furrowed her eyebrows, "They both aren't for you?"

Kate smirked, "Guess not. Let's open it."

Kara took the box, looking at a Caitlin's handwriting and her name scribbled in it. Why did she smile? She didn't know. She carefully pulled away the wrapping paper, an orange Nike box coming into view. Kara had tuned out Kate's yelling and excitement, opening her gift. Out of her peripheral vision, Kara saw Kate talking videos of whatever Caitlin gifted her.
