TWO MONTHS FORWARDS

"Oh, good! You both made it!" smiled Anne, being Kate and Kara into a hug. "Caity told me that you would be coming, Kara. You're part of Iowa basketball now, so you're invited to every event."

"Too sweet. How are you, Anne?" asked Kara with a smile, as Kate followed to hug Anne as well.

"I'm doing good, I'm excited for the girls to get back to it this year. Right, Kate?"

"I'm pumped," smiled Kate. Anne led them to their kitchen. "I'm glad I chose to stay one more year."

Anne had her yearly Iowa brunch, hosting the basketball girls to celebrate a kick off of Summer ball for Iowa, where they have various weeks of training and few scrimmages here and there. Kara had a massive break until the next camp for the National Team, only enduring the multitude of shows she hopped on and finishing interview narratives for the Netflix show.

"The girls are out in the backyard, the food should be done soon," smiled Anne, as she went to go back to playing. Brent turned to the two girls who had just come in, breaking out into a smile and placing down the plates he was stacking to go hug the girls.

"Aw, hi girls," smiled Brent, taking the two into hugs. "I'm happy to see you both. Kara, I hope you're relaxing now that you're done with interviews."

Kate chuckled, while Kara laughed and a sigh followed.

"She's got one more interview for the Hawkeye Newspaper tomorrow, then she's done," said Kate, nudging Kara who smiled.

"Oh, at least it's in Iowa. No more traveling," smiled Brent. "Well, you girls can join them outside."

"Thanks, Brent," said Kate and the two girls walked out through the glass door leading to the backyard.

The girls turned to the sounds of the glass door opening, and Caitlin was the first to greet them by tackling the two girls into a group hug.

"Hi," said Caitlin softly, releasing her arm around Kate and wrapping it around her girlfriend. "Hello, my Kara."

Kara chuckled softly, "Hey, Caitlin."

Caitlin pulled away just a little bit, and dipped her head down and captured the smaller girls lips onto hers.

"Dude, I didn't get as loving as a greeting," joked Kate, pinching Caitlin's arm a bit. "Guys, I've been demoted to chopped liver."

"Oh, please, Kate," laughed Gabbie. "Let them be, you know we've all been waiting for this."

"Hello, Gabbie," greeted Kara embracing Gabbie into a warm hug. "How are you?"

"Better, now that you're here. You're glowing by the way," she smiled, making Kara's heart feel warm. Caitlin and Kate had by now moved into conversation with the other girls, while Gabbie and Kara caught up.

"You think so?" asked Kara with a smile.

"I know so. Caitlin too," teased Gabbie. "I swear, world peace was restored as soon as I saw that kiss happen on my TV!"
