When the cast of Top Gun: Maverick comes to Top Gun to learn how to fly a jet, and it turns out their instructor is the real life version of Maverick.
This is based off of another story that I loved and wanted to make my own version.

Maverick could tell that the performers were terrified the moment they steeped into the briefing room she had been cleared to use the day before. As the group slowly trickled in, Katerina was huddled in the corner with Mickey, both actively trying to figure out how to set up the projection. It was clear that neither of them were IO's.
By the time the entire group had joined them they had gotten the projection working and Micky had updated her on his squadrons drama.
"Ok, now that were all here." She turned to the group and started her lecture. "I have finished mapping out the mission route!" Kat stated with a smile, it had been a lot of work and she was proud of it.
"Now, I am not in charge of the routs you will be lying in the 'training exercises'. She made sure to add the quotation marks around the last two words as she wasn't exactly sure what they were being referred to as now. "But I, and a few wingmen will be in the air with you at all times to help."
If you listened close enough you could have heard pretty much all of the new pilots say some quiet thanks under their breaths.
As she proceeded to project the routs onto the screen one by one addressing them individually (or in pairs if they were a foxtrot team) as to where they were flying, the Gs' and at what point they needed to 'act', of course they would go over that with the director and whoever else.
After the meeting they all went their separate ways, going to classes or another meeting if need be, but Katerina needed a break, even if she had put on a brave fact whilst Infront of her newfound friends, talking about and seeing the flight path for this mission was hard. Most of the drama that had been put into the script was fake but almost all of the flying was real. She was hit by a SAM and had to steal an enemy aircraft to escape, and not to mention, she was saved by Pirate, who never let it down.
So, she went to the only place she every really felt safe, in a plane. She was tired so she did not fly, but even just sitting in a cockpit was calming to her, it was the one place where she was in full control. That was one of the reasons she never took a WSO, she felt the need to be in full control.
