[ Third person pov ]
"I'll just check if everyone is fine then head back soon, without interfering."
Those were his last words, they still sounded fresh, even when her fingers played with the hair of their four years old son, who was a few weeks old when he left. She warned him not to, the ban was just a few days old, the constabularies were wild, filling the city rampant.
They had already lost a close friend of theirs after the law dropped.
Why didn't he listen to her? Why did he abandon his wife and weeks old son just for some stupid people he didn't know? People who would've cursed him out of possessing super human abilities?
"I don't want to cut my hair!"
The female looked away from the ceiling she was staring at, wiping her eyes that were welled with tears. She looked down at her child, smiling bitterly.
"But it's overgrown," she patted his hair, softly. "I let you keep it a week extra and I can't do it again."
The black haired mumbled a small apology, shutting his eyes when the first snip of the scissors sounded, strands of his black hair falling on his shoulder.
And this made his mother smile, thankful that he wasn't strong headed like his father. He was quiet and always listened when she would talk.
Not to go near the other kids, to stay away from the swing set, always inside, study, watch the only thing she would pick, sleep on time, wake up on time. All these she thought would keep him safe, away from the hateful world out there.
"Minnie, I have a new rule," she chirped, earning a nod of approval from the four year old. "Do not ever use your powers, okay sweetheart?"
"Like ever ever?" the black haired mused, his voice tiny.
"Like ever ever."
