[ Third Person Pov ]
Immensely hooked on the lilliputian blob trapped inside the glass shield, Misun's mind had totally drifted away from both boys behind her. She watched with intense curiosity as it moved sluggishly, changing its form as it goes, and the more attention she spotlighted on the phantom, the less sound her ears collected, only focusing on its sotto voce breathing— a tiny huff and a long puff. The longer she stared, the more their breathing synchronized, a steady circle, push and pull, Yin and Yang.
“Misun, are you sure being that close to a phantom is safe?” Hyunjin queried. “I mean, the attack was proven to be related to their effects—”
The black haired pushed herself away from the table, finally paying mind to the taller. “I'm completely fine, Jinnie,” She spared a convincing beam, the brunet easily falling for her Idiocracy. “You don't have to worry.”
Seungmin rolled his eyes, looking away from both of them. “Since when did phantoms start attacking you?” he mused, trying to hint at her dissimulation.
“When they reside in a host, Kim,” Misun scrawled at him, her arms crossed and so were her feelings. She found him extremely annoying— an infernal nuisance that she just couldn't push away. He was the reason she decided to tag along again, no matter how the noirette tried, the urge to know what he was and why she couldn't get inside his head troubled her, like she was all caught up in his vines of perplexity. “And apparently huge ones too.”
“She's got a point, Min,” Hyunjin surmised with her answer.
“Whatever, I knew you'd take her side.”
Hyunjin placed a hand on Misun's lower back, leading her away from where the fuming black haired stood. “Ignore him, Seungmin is a bit ornery,” He smiled blissfully, disdaining the annoyed groan Seungmin murmured at the back. “Have you ever heard of minacious?”
Misun's eyes lit up when she heard the familiar name leave the taller's lips. “Minacious?” she repeated. “I think I've heard of it, but I don't know what it means,” a prevaricate that neither Seungmin nor Hyunjin could see through.
“It's obvious someone like you wouldn't know.”
“I'm not too sure about that—”
“Shut up, Seungmin,” Hyunjin had a reprimanding scowl, miffed that he was always against Misun for no reason. He turned to the confused girl, placing both hands on her shoulders. “It's an underground fighting ring, I'm talking real violent fights with blood and broken bones type shit.”
Misun shivered at the thought, shaking her head in dismay. “What does that have to do with anything?”
And only then did Seungmin notice the phantom do the same, moving what he assumed to be its head. “Hey Misun?”
“What? Can't you see I'm having a conversation with Jinnie?” she jabbed her thumb at where the taller stood, an action which the phantom copied, and the more she moved the better their synchronization got, until they'd both move at the same time, every little action and reaction.
“What are you, Misun?” Seungmin mused mentally.
“Right, um, we don't know for sure, but the location seems to be a powerhouse for these phantoms. Their currents grow stronger there and if you've noticed they always come from the Eastside of town.”
Misun hummed under her breath— a slight nod of attestation. “So, you wanna go over there?” she paused, her fingers through her hair. “Isn't that dangerous?”
“We're only gonna stake it out until we're well familiar with the place, okay Sunnie?” Seungmin shammed a smile at the glowering girl.
