Drew's plans to hang out used to always be gone through, with a few "I'll need to ask my mom"s but otherwise they were accepted. At least until Liam started trying to find Henry and all of his time after school was spent doing that.
Drew had started out frustrated, Henry had been missing for over a month at this point. There was a nonzero chance he was dead. However, Drew had started getting curious. Liam had stopped saying he was looking for Henry, but he was still constantly busy. Drew knew damn well that Liam essentially refused to make another friend and that outside of school, most of his time is spent online.
After yet another day of Drew asking to hang out and Liam saying he was busy, he decided to follow Liam to see what he was so "busy" doing.

Liam felt odd while he was walking in the forest, but he brushed it off as being because of the environment. He was scared the first time around, so what of it now?
Henry met him halfway to the shed, having gotten impatient. He was carrying the hare, still nameless but nevertheless still quickly identifiable. They talked about anything that came to mind, although it was mainly Henry talking as usual.
The sight of Henry, who Drew was certain was dead, shocked him. Along with every physical change that happened. But he had to keep going, just to see what was next
Drew followed close behind, but not close enough to alert them to his presence
