"Hello?" I said into the phone.
"Happy Birthday Keke!!!!" My mom screamed into the phone in a cheery mood.
"Thanks mama"
"Listen. I'm sorry about what I did last time I was over. It was completely immature of me and I should of never acted that way. I know I can't fix everything that's going on between us, but I just don't want things between us to be anymore awkward then it already is."
I was actually surprise to know that she actually apoligized. Its not usual of her.
"Um thanks."
"I hope you have a great day behbeh"
"I will, bye"
That was a little awkward but I am impressed. I hung the house phone up and walked back to the living room. I sat at the leg of the couch where August was focused on the tv and listening to the girls discussion. It started getting quiet after a while, and I guess when August realized I was there he pulled me to his lap. I knew by taking a glance to his eye he was wondering if he could tell what my mama said was good or bad. I just smiled at him and started playing with his hair. The conversation started again until I cut Kendra and Chandra off.
"August you have some really good hair." I could feel them all loooking at me. "I'm sorry I cut yall off but I'm serious!"
Chandra just rolled her eyes at me trying to finish up Arielle's hair. That's when I let my curiosity get the best of me.
"Arielle why do you wanna straighten your hair?" I asked
"Because I don't like my hair curly."
"Ari your hair is beautiful when it's curly!" Chandra said
"Yea well I like it better when its straighten more of my friends from school have straightened hair."
"Well they probably don't know that its not healthy for their hair." I stated
"That's not true cuz this one girls hair is just straight and she told me she doesn't do anything to make it that way."
"Yea that girl named Ariana!" Kayden added
"Well its not natural like yours Ari"
"Mine isn't the same because its harder to comb, I can't run my my my hands through my hair easily and its all over the place!"
"Yeah!" Kayden said agreeing "told you mama I knew I wasn't the only one"
Cha Cha shook her head.
"Yeah Mama and you don't always where your hair out! You always put it in a bun or in a different style!" Arielle complained
"But I don't straighten or blow dry it as much like you." said
She was silent.
"Kay kay and Arielle you guys needa stop bein so mean!" said Chay and Amaiya
"Thank you Mya and Chay" Chandra said "yea thank you" I also stated.
"Well you wouldn't know since you guys have short hair" Kay said under her breath to Chay and Mya.
"Kayden!" Chandra yelled stopping what she was doing. "You betta watch that mouth of yours! Cuz no child of mine gon be disrespectful!"
There was a weird silence as I could tell Kendra was about to burst.
"I like my hair!" said Amaiya standing up to Kayden "Yeah I do too, because mama could style it any way she want when it comes to us. But when its you she always has to deal with your complaining." Chay said
