Onyx's POV

I blinked, trying to clear the haze from my vision. Cammy's house was gone, replaced by the familiar darkness of the abandoned warehouse. My head throbbed, and as I struggled to sit up, I realized my hands were tied behind my back. Panic surged through me. What happened?

Footsteps echoed in the distance, growing louder. I forced myself to stay calm, to think. Mason and Marco had to be behind this. They had Cammy. The thought sent a spike of terror through me, but I couldn't afford to lose my head now.

The door creaked open, and Mason stepped into the dim light, his face twisted with a cruel smile. "Welcome back, Onyx. Hope you don't mind the accommodations."

"Where's Cammy?" I demanded, my voice hoarse. "If you've hurt her—"

Mason held up a hand, cutting me off. "She's fine. For now. But that all depends on you."

I glared at him, struggling against the ropes. "What do you want from me?"

He walked closer, crouching down to my level. "It's simple, really. You're going to prove your loyalty to the gang. One last job. If you do it, we let Cammy go. If you don't... well, you can imagine."

I felt a surge of fury. "And if I do this, you swear you'll leave her alone?"

Mason smirked. "Scout's honor."

I knew better than to trust him, but I had no choice. "What's the job?"

He leaned back, satisfied. "There's a shipment coming in tomorrow night. Drugs. We need you to help move it. Think of it as a test run to see if you're really back in the game."

I bit back a retort. "Fine. I'll do it. But if you hurt Cammy, I swear I'll—"

He stood, cutting me off again. "You're in no position to make threats, Onyx. Remember that."

With a final, mocking smile, he turned and left, the door slamming shut behind him. I slumped back, closing my eyes. I needed a plan. I had to find a way to protect Cammy and get us both out of this mess.

Hours passed, though it felt like days. Eventually, the door opened again, and Marco stepped in, untying me. "Let's go. We've got work to do."

I followed him, my mind racing. I had to play along for now, but the moment I saw an opportunity, I'd take it. Cammy's safety depended on it.

They took me to a different part of the warehouse, where crates and barrels were stacked high. A group of gang members was already there, preparing for the shipment. Marco handed me a pair of gloves and nodded towards the crates.

"Start loading. We don't have all night."

I forced myself to focus, lifting the heavy crates and moving them to the designated spot. My muscles ached, but I pushed through the pain, knowing that every moment brought me closer to saving Cammy.

As we worked, I kept an eye on Mason and Marco, waiting for a chance to make my move. They were distracted, barking orders and overseeing the operation. I needed to find out where they were keeping Cammy, but I couldn't risk blowing my cover too soon.

Hours later, the shipment was finally loaded. Mason clapped his hands, looking pleased. "Good work, everyone. Onyx, a word?"

I followed him to a secluded corner, my heart pounding. This was it.

"You did well tonight," he said, lighting a cigarette. "Almost like old times."

I forced a smile. "Glad to be back."

He exhaled a cloud of smoke, studying me. "You know, Onyx, I always thought you were one of the best. It's a shame you had to go soft."

"I'm here now, aren't I?" I replied, trying to keep my voice steady.

He nodded, flicking ash onto the ground. "Yeah, you are. But don't forget why. One slip-up, and your little girlfriend pays the price."

I clenched my fists, rage boiling inside me. "I won't forget."

"Good. Now get some rest. Tomorrow's a big day."

As he walked away, I felt a flicker of hope. I had made it through the first test. Now I just had to find Cammy and get us out of here. I couldn't afford to waste any more time.

I slipped away from the group, heading deeper into the warehouse. The place was a maze, but I knew it well. If they were holding Cammy here, there were only a few places they could be.

After what felt like an eternity, I heard muffled voices coming from behind a locked door. My heart raced as I pressed my ear to the wood, straining to listen.

"We need to move her soon," a voice said. Marco's.

"She's a liability," another voice agreed. "But Mason wants to keep her as insurance."

I couldn't wait any longer. Taking a deep breath, I threw my weight against the door, bursting into the room. Cammy was tied to a chair, her eyes wide with fear.

"Onyx!" she cried.

"Let her go," I demanded, stepping forward. Marco and the other guy spun around, surprised.

Before they could react, I lunged at Marco, knocking him to the ground. The other guy scrambled for a weapon, but I kicked it out of his hand, throwing him against the wall.

"Cammy, run!" I shouted, freeing her hands.

She hesitated, fear in her eyes. "I'm not leaving without you!"

"Go!" I insisted, shoving her towards the door.

She nodded, tears streaming down her face, and bolted from the room. I turned back to Marco, who was getting to his feet, a murderous look in his eyes.

"You're gonna pay for that, Onyx," he snarled, lunging at me.

I dodged his attack, grabbing a nearby metal pipe. We circled each other, the tension thick in the air.

"You shouldn't have come back," Marco taunted. "You were better off out of the gang."

I swung the pipe, narrowly missing him. "And you should've stayed out of my life."

The fight was brutal, each of us landing blows that left us gasping for breath. But I couldn't give up. Cammy was out there, and I had to protect her.

Finally, I landed a solid hit, sending Marco crashing to the floor. He groaned, clutching his side, and I stood over him, breathing hard.

"This isn't over," he spat, blood trickling from his mouth.

I didn't wait to hear more. I raced out of the room, desperate to find Cammy. The warehouse was eerily silent as I searched, my heart pounding with fear. Had she gotten out? Was she safe?

As I rounded a corner, I saw her. She was huddled behind a stack of crates, her eyes wide with terror. Relief flooded through me as I ran to her, pulling her into my arms.

"We need to get out of here," I said urgently. "Now."

She nodded, clinging to me. Together, we made our way to the exit, the shadows of the warehouse closing in around us. Just as we reached the door, a voice rang out behind us.

"Going somewhere?"

We spun around to see Mason standing there, a gun in his hand, aimed directly at us.
