Onyx's POV

The cold steel of Mason's gun gleamed under the dim light of the warehouse. Cammy's grip tightened on my arm, her breath hitching in fear. I positioned myself slightly in front of her, my mind racing for a way out of this.

"Mason, you don't have to do this," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "Let her go. This is between us."

Mason's smirk was a thin line of cruelty. "You know I can't do that, Onyx. She's the only leverage we have to keep you in line."

He took a step closer, the gun unwavering. "Now, let's go back inside and talk this out."

"Talk?" I scoffed, trying to buy time. "Like you ever listened to anything but your own threats."

"You're still the same stubborn fool," Mason spat. "You left us, betrayed us, and now you're running off with this girl, thinking you can just start over. It doesn't work that way."

Cammy's eyes met mine, a silent plea for a miracle. I couldn't let her get hurt because of my past mistakes. I had to find a way to get us out of this.

I took a deep breath, preparing to make my move. "You know what, Mason? You're right. I made a mistake leaving the gang. But I'm not coming back. Not now, not ever."

Mason's eyes narrowed. "Then you're sealing her fate."

Before he could react, I lunged forward, knocking the gun from his hand. It skidded across the floor, out of reach. Mason's face twisted in fury as he swung at me, but I dodged, landing a punch to his gut.

"Run, Cammy!" I shouted.

She hesitated, but I gave her a desperate push. She took off towards the door, her footsteps echoing in the vast space. Mason recovered quickly, grabbing me by the collar and slamming me against the wall.

"You're gonna pay for this," he growled.

I struggled against his grip, landing another hit to his side. He staggered back, giving me just enough time to break free. I darted towards the gun, but Mason tackled me to the ground.

We grappled, each trying to gain the upper hand. The gun was just out of reach, but I couldn't let Mason get to it first. With a surge of adrenaline, I managed to flip him over, pinning him down.

"This ends now," I hissed, my fist poised to strike.

Mason's laughter was a chilling sound. "You think you can just walk away? You're one of us, Onyx. You always will be."

I hesitated, the weight of his words sinking in. But I couldn't let him control me any longer. With one final punch, I knocked him out cold. Breathing heavily, I stood up, grabbing the gun and shoving it into my waistband.

I had to find Cammy. She was my only priority now. I sprinted towards the exit, my heart pounding. As I burst through the doors, I saw her waiting by the car, her eyes wide with relief.

"Onyx!" she cried, running to me.

"We need to go," I said urgently, taking her hand. "Now."

We jumped into the car, and I floored the gas pedal, the tires screeching as we sped away from the warehouse. The city lights blurred past us, a whirlwind of chaos and fear.

Cammy clung to my arm, her voice trembling. "Are we safe?"

"For now," I replied, glancing in the rearview mirror. "But we can't stop. Not until we're far away from here."

The weight of what had just happened pressed down on me. Mason was still out there, and so were the rest of the gang. But I couldn't let them control our lives any longer. I had to find a way to protect Cammy, to keep her safe from my past.

As the city faded into the distance, I made a silent vow. I would do whatever it took to keep her safe. Even if it meant facing my darkest fears and the consequences of my past mistakes.

But for now, we were together, and that was all that mattered.

Little did I know, the real battle was just beginning. And the stakes were higher than ever.
