ONYX POV:

I took a deep breath, steeling myself to reveal the darkest corners of my past to Cammy. She sat across from me, her eyes wide with concern and determination, waiting for me to speak.

"Cammy," I began, my voice low and tinged with regret, "there's a lot I haven't told you. Things I've tried to bury because I didn't want you to see me differently."

She reached out and took my hand, her touch grounding me. "Onyx, whatever it is, we can face it together. I need to know."

I nodded, swallowing hard. "I wasn't just in a gang, Cammy. I was more than that. I was... involved in things that put people in danger. Things I'm not proud of."

Her brow furrowed, concern deepening in her eyes. "What do you mean?"

I took a shaky breath, searching for the right words. "There were deals, Cammy. Illegal activities. I was... I was part of a world where violence and danger were everyday realities. I thought I could leave it behind when I met you, but they don't just let you walk away."

Cammy's grip on my hand tightened, her expression a mix of shock and empathy. "Onyx..."

"I know I should tell you to stay away from me," I continued, my voice cracking with emotion. "It's not safe for you to be with someone like me. I'm putting you in danger just by being here."

Tears welled up in her eyes, but she didn't let go of my hand. "Onyx, you're not that person anymore. We can find a way through this. But you have to trust me."

"I want to trust you," I whispered, my heart aching with the weight of my secrets. "But I'm scared, Cammy. Scared of what might happen to you because of me."

She leaned forward, placing a gentle kiss on my lips, a silent promise of solidarity. "We'll figure this out together. I'm not leaving you, Onyx. We'll face whatever comes."

As she pulled back, determination shone in her eyes, a stark contrast to the turmoil within me. "But you have to promise me, Onyx," she said firmly. "No more secrets. We face this together, honestly."

I nodded, relief and guilt warring within me. "I promise, Cammy. No more secrets."

But even as I said the words, I knew the hardest part was yet to come. The danger I had tried to shield her from was closing in, and I feared that my love for her was not enough to protect her from the shadows of my past.
