    Vlad

I think I'm going to be nauseous, but I try to compose myself. Thankfully, all that training beaten into me pays off, my work mask not betraying anything.

I can't believe this, Kayro's father is the one that hunt me down and made me a slave years ago.

Then an even greater realization hit me. My dad!! He knows where my dad is! How do I get more information about him? It's not like he will just casually say: "Oh, Vlad, you must be worried about your dad, the one you haven't seen in almost six years. Yes, don't worry, he is now a slave too....", "...or dead", "...he is happy with another family, forgot all about you". Yeah, I am positive that won't happen.

My anxiety is creeping up on me and I'm starting to feel a little warm, my skin having a sheen of sweat. I close my eyes and focus on my breathing, because my I have my face downcast, it's difficult to notice.

Calm down, Vlad! Calm down! Nothing good will happen if you loose it now. I try telling myself, because in the back of my mind I knew that for 1. I was still a slave and had no rights whatsoever and 2. Kayro's father is nothing like him. I know for a fact that if I make one wrong gesture, it will result in me receiving a very painful punishment.

"You wanted to speak with me, father?" I hear Kayro asking.

"Yes, Kayro, I have some wonderful news and I expect you to enjoy them" he replied with much enthusiasm. "Now sit and let me enlighten you on what it's about to happen in the near future" he says gesturing for Kayro to take a seat on a chair in front of his huge, black desk. I gingerly fallow him, as I always did.

"Oh no, slave! You stay at the door." he immediately spits towards me, that tone nothing new.

My eyes never leaving the ground, I walk to the door and plaster myself to the adjacent wall, I was actually glad I could lean on it, but I still didn't understand why was I here.

Did he just wanted to see what I've become, how much of a good slave I am? Sighing on the inside I find a comfortable position and just wait for this meeting to end.

"Well, well, well...aren't you a good little slave?" he said mockingly. "I bet your parents must be very proud of you" he adds with such malicious intent it's like a slap on my face and he starts laughing.

Oh my soul, those words are more hurtful than he thinks and I bet that was his exact motif. I just wanted to cry. My father would be so upset to see me now, so disappointed in me for letting them do what they pleased, not fighting like he made me promise, I was a coward, I knew that.

"Father, I thought you had news for me." Kayro intervened. "What does my slave have anything to do with it?" he asked.

"I just needed to remind him his place, because I know how you treat your...slaves." he replies, the slaves word said with intense disgust.

"But you are right, he is nothing important." he adds with a big accent on nothing.

Ok, I get it, I am nothing but a slave, I already know that. My work mask is holding strong, but I'm a mess on the inside. I just wanted to curl in a corner and cry.

"I have two very important things to tell you, and like I said before I expect you to enjoy them and that's it." he said with a very serious tone. I hear him wondering around the room, his footsteps heavy and steady.

"In one month time, we will have a ceremony at the castle, my crowning as king. This would be the main event of the night. As you know, my father decided to leave the throne once you have a fiancé." he says.

King!!! Oh my soul, this man is not just any royal, he is THE royal!! Oh my soul! I suddenly remember some past details, that made no sense at the time. Corvina said my mother was engaged to the Crown Prince and this crazy individual screamed at my dad that she had only one job, to give him an heir.
