Jeremy dropped the phone he was clutching in his hand and the line cut off as the screen splintered.
"Jeremy ??!" Damon called into the smart device when the Gilbert's sentence got cut off.
He ran his fingers through his hair and pulled roughly on his roots, before he felt a hand circle his and pull his hand away.
Slater held Damon's hand tightly in his. "It's going to be alright, we'll find him. Maybe his battery died." ..........................................................................................
"Impossible" Jeremy whispered as he watched the light in Elijah's eyes dim down.
Elijah seemed to take a step forward and open his mouth to, probably make some kind of explanation but Jeremy continued. "This can't be possible. You're- I'm- She... I was afraid she would find her soulmates but I never even considered for them to be my soulmates too..." he muttered more to himself than to Elijah. The original started to notice a difference in his newly found soulmates' heartbeat and how his chest started to hieve.
His head was filled with questions. Rather than Jeremy being confused he seemed to be in disbelief. Elijah didn't think that the young boy would know about soulmates even though he was aware about the supernatural. His reaction stirred confusion and questions in the original.
"Jeremy, I suggest you take a calming breathe in, you're showing signs of a panic attack" Elijah said, reaching out to touch Jeremy's shoulder when said boy flinched away from his touch.
"I-I need to go" and Jeremy took off, running out of the cemetery and all the way back to his house.
Elijah watched his soulmate run away, away from him.
It shattered his soul. Never in his thousand years had he felt as hopeless and devastated as he did now. Was this it? Is this what rejection felt like?
No, he could feel the faint remnants of the growing bond. Every second he glanced at Jeremy, every step he took to be closer to him, once they made eye contact the bond started to form. It won't solidify for a while, but it's not broken.
He's still alive, isn't he? He doesn't think he could handle being rejected by the one person he had been hoping to meet for a thousand years.
But he let Jeremy go for now. It is clear that the younger boy needs some space. And Elijah has to find out more about the girl his soulmate has mentioned. Did he have a girlfriend? Was he even into men?
And then something hit him. Like a bucket of cold water.
I think Ayla would appreciate it if you would be healthy and in one peace waiting for her at home when she returns and not wandering alone at night you idiot. Damon had said on the phone with Jeremy.
