Spending some time in the prison world made Ayla feel like someone had dumped a bucket of cold water over her. It was time for her to take the reign into her own hands and pull herself together.
Until now she has not been doing a very good job at being reincarnated into a world where she knows the future. Even though this alternate universe is slightly different than the one she knows from set, its events are almost identical. The tomb vampires, the fire, the werewolves, the kidnapping of elena (as she was told by Jeremy) and she has done nothing to prevent nor help at those times. That needs to change. Immediately. Kai having been stuck in the prison world was actually something that was weighing on her mind, however she had not been able to gather the help from Bonnie at that time.
And admittedly she was a little busy dealing with other things that -at the time- seemed more important.
Now she knew that there could not be anything more important than to help Kai out of his misery. To help her soulmate.
Once they managed to get out of the prison world Ayla had to face the fact that things kept getting more and more complicated, with Elijah being also her soulmate and her soulmates being mated to each other too. Don't get me wrong, Ayla loves her soulmate bonds more than anything and she is so happy that she gets to share this experience, this love with Jeremy, who has been insecure and anxious ever since she told him that she had multiple mates, and with Kai, who deserves all the love in the world (and maybe a really good therapist, paid by Elijah), and lastly Elijah, who has seen the horrors of this world for over a thousand years, at some point has become one of them himself but never lost his fate that one day he may find the missing piece(s) to his soul.
Ayla feels like she has so much of herself, her love, she wants to give to her soulmates, she might actually burst. The adoration she feels for them, or what they represent is immeasurable.
And as the wind swipes over her head, tussling her hair in all kind of directions, she catches the scent it carries. Rich musk and sandalwood, and she feels like she is in heaven. It's probably one of her favourite scents -she will never let him see the airfreshener on her shelf with that exact scent. Elijah walks peacefully a couple steps ahead of her. She only realises that she has fallen behind, when Elijah turns to her with a small smile that makes her melt on the inside, and a thousand questions burning in his eyes.
And suddenly Ayla wants to tell him everything. That she has died, came into this world, relived all of Ayla Salvatore's memories, has random visions that make no sense and knows the future. She wants him to take off her burden and tell her what to do, because she's clueless on how to proceed from now on. How their relationship is going to work, how she's going to help without murdering Elena and making Jeremy hate her forever.
But she can't. It wouldn't be fair to Jeremy. It could ruin things and she doesn't know Elijah yet. She knew Daniel Gillies, who was the sweetest person and a great actor, but she doesn't really know Elijah. She cannot be reckless.
She has to plan carefully. Now that Elijah is here, Klaus' arrival is around the corner and tragedies are bound to take place.
She wants to get to know Elijah and Kai better. She needs to talk to Jeremy ASAP.
