Y/N POV

"I need to dash right now," I said and grabbed my jacket as well as my helmet. "Try to find anything related to Y."

I didn't wait for their answer when I ran out of the room. I took the stairs since the elevators were taking too long.

As I dashed down the stairs, the echo of my footsteps filled the stairwell. I reached the parking lot, mounted my bike, and sped off towards the edge of town where Yujin and I met last time. The ride was quick, the wind whipping past me as I navigated the empty streets.

I pulled up to the abandoned diner and parked my bike. Yujin was already inside, sitting in our usual booth with a cup of coffee in front of her. She looked up as I walked in, a smirk playing on her lips.

"Late as usual," she teased.

I rolled my eyes and slid into the booth across from her. "Traffic was horrible."

"So, this Y person seemed to cover their tracks well," Yujin said.

My mouth dropped open and I crossed my arm, shooting her a look. "You made me come all the way here just to tell me that?"

Yujin laughed and took out a printed paper. "She was last seen at a mart outside of your house."

I sighed. "Any CCTVs that caught her face or purchase history? Besides, how do you know it's her?"

"She bought super weird things," Yujin said and handed me a piece of paper.

Ropes, birthday hats, candles, lighters, and nine cups of buldak. Seems like she's planning a birthday party for someone. I skimmed through the paper before putting it down on the table.

"Looks like Y is planning a birthday or an explosion party," I said with a hint of disgust in my voice. "

Yujin's expression sobered slightly. "I've been digging as much as I can, but so far, nothing concrete. She's good at covering her tracks."

"Things are getting more complicated now," I concluded and sighed.

Yujin nodded, her smirk not fading. "Welcome to our world, where nothing is ever simple."

I gave her a mock bow. "And here I thought I was the only one with a knack for overcomplicating things."

Yujin chuckled. "So, what's the plan? Are we crashing this birthday party or what?"

I picked up the paper again, examining the list of bizarre purchases. "Seems like we don't have much of a choice. Either we crash the party or risk another explosion. And I don't know about you, but I'm getting a little tired of dodging shrapnel."

"Speak for yourself. I've always wanted to test my reflexes under extreme conditions," Yujin said with a grin.

"Glad to know one of us is having fun," I replied dryly. "Alright, let's set up surveillance at the mart. Maybe we'll get lucky and catch her in the act."

Yujin raised an eyebrow. "You believe in luck now?"

"Not really," I admitted. "But it sounds better than saying we're just winging it."

"Fair enough," she said, finishing her coffee. "I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, try not to get yourself into too much trouble."

"No promises," I replied with a smirk.

Yujin stood up and stretched. "By the way, what's with the birthday hats? You think she's planning a surprise party for us?"

I shrugged. "Knowing our luck, it wouldn't surprise me if she was planning something twisted like that."
