Y/N POV

"You remember what happened 7 years ago?" I asked Minji, my voice barely coming out as a whisper.

Minji tensed beside me as she recalled the memory. Although we hadn't met back then, I had told her every detail about the story after years of friendship.

"Yeah," she replied, then sensing my sadness, she rested her head on my shoulder. I was grateful for that.

Before I could say anything, a nurse walked over. "The patient requests Ms. Hwang," the nurse said, opening the door to Kazuha's hospital room.

Minji got and nudged me, urging me to get up. I walked in, turning off my emotions as the chilly and tense air hit my face. There was a chair nearby, and I pulled it next to the bed, sitting down without a word.

"Y/N," Kazuha greeted weakly, her voice filled with a mixture of relief and uncertainty.

"How are you feeling?" I asked, my tone flat and detached.

"It hurts, but I'm alive," she replied, her eyes searching my face.

"That's good," I said, avoiding her gaze.

"Is that really all?" she asked, frustration creeping into her voice.

"Yes," I replied curtly. "Making sure it's ok."

She sighed, shaking her head slightly. "I know you care, Y/N. Even if you won't admit it."

"Look at what happened to my 'care', Kazuha," I said, raising my voice with each word I said. "It ended with you almost dying."

She reached out for my hand but I shoved them inside my pocket.

"But I didn't," Kazuha insisted, her voice laced with a hint of frustration and anger. She looked at me and I looked away, trying to avoid her glance.

"It will happen again," I stated blankly. "Something like this happened when I was 12, Kazuha. I swore I would kill myself if something similar happened again. Guess what, it did."

"What happened when you were twelve?" she asked.

I hesitated then took a deep breath as I recalled the memory. "I trusted someone. She told me to meet her at the same abandoned train station we were in but it was bustling with people back then. I arrived there on time and waited for her but she never came. Usually it would be her arriving first but not this time. The station was loud but somehow, I managed to hear a gunshot. People ran for cover, giving me the space I needed to see what was happening. There she was, lying on the ground. Covered with blood. It wasn't possible to save her anymore even if I wanted to. The bullet was embedded into her heart. She was my childhood friend. We both had the same dream, entering HYBE University together but it was never fulfilled for her."

Kazuha frowned, sensing the pain behind the words I had said. She reached out her hand again and I took it. Silence hung in the air. It was a awkward silence. The kind of silence where nobody knows what to say.

"Minji said after meeting you on Friday, my old self was back," I finally said. "She also said that some of my emotions are starting to show again."

"Your old self?" Kazuha repeated.

I nodded my head. "You can ask my sister. After losing her, my emotions died. It was better that way. Years later, Chaewon came into my life and some emotions returned. She left me, my emotion died again."

Again, silence filled the room. I thought about what would happen if I said to meet somewhere else.

"I'm sorry you had to go through that," she said quietly.
