"I don't need to do this."

My brother ignored me and pulled open the driver's door, making a sweeping motion to guide me in. Even though I wasn't looking at him, I knew he was making a face. Petulantly, I unfolded my arms and dragged myself to where he stood.

Jungkook decided it was time for me to learn how to drive. Apparently, he grew tired of running errands for me and Mom, and since I was going to get my driver's license soon, Dad was on board with it.

So, there we were, in an empty parking lot.

He stepped back, and I almost brushed my lips across his, mumbling, "This is ridiculous," before dipping into the car. I watched his lips lift in a smile, and then he walked around to sit in the passenger seat. And boy, how weird it was; he looked almost like a different person from this angle.

I confess that I would've rather my father do this instead because lately, Jungkook had been camping out in my brain like a persistent earworm. Something had definitely changed, and not for the better—like when you rearrange the furniture in your room, and suddenly everything feels different.

These... strange moments we shared were never addressed, like a forbidden topic we couldn't touch. We didn't talk about it, never brought it up. It was like we had both agreed to pretend they didn't exist. Maybe it was easier that way—ignoring the elephant in the room. Because, honestly, facing the truth would've meant admitting that what we did was not normal.

I glanced at him as he handed me the keys. He smelt like motor oil and his usual cologne. It was comforting and distracting all at once. "Alright, sis, let's do this," he began. "I have shown you everything already, so you must be ahead by now. And if you cause even the smallest scratch on my car, I swear—"

"Relax, Jungkook... I know what to do, just... Guide me through it like we talked about."

"Mm," he said, putting on his seatbelt. Are you ready?"

I nodded.

"First things first," he said, pointing out the various controls. "This is the brake, that's the gas. You remember the basics, right?"

"Yeah, I think so."

"Put it in Drive," he instructed.

Furrowing my brows, I turned the key in the ignition and slowly pulled the gearshift down until it landed on D. I checked my mirrors before stomping on the pedal, and the car moved and immediately halted, nearly causing Jungkook to crash his head against the glove compartment.

"JIEUN!"

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" I cried out. "Okay... I've got it now."

"Of course you do," he swallowed, grabbing the handle, trying to sound indifferent. "Try again."
