Christmas was always a special time, and visiting Grandma was almost a tradition at this point. When we arrived, she was at the door, all smiles and hugs, acting like she hadn't seen us in years. "Look at my babies, all grown up!" she exclaimed, pulling each of us into a tight hug.

I was shocked when I walked inside. The place was absolutely packed. Uncles, aunts, cousins—everyone was there. It was rare to get the whole gang together, and although I was happy to see them gathered, I was a bit worried.

"Where the hell are we sleeping?" Jungkook asked as we dumped our bags in the hallway.

Mom pointed us to a small room at the end of the hall. "In there. The other rooms are full"

I peered into it and immediately spotted the issue. "Uh, there's only one futon in here."

She just waved it off. "Oh, you two have shared a bed plenty of times when you were kids. It'll be just like old times."

I turned to Jungkook, who looked disturbingly unfazed. "This is ridiculous," I frowned. "We're not kids anymore—can't he sleep on the couch?"

"One of your cousins already will be sleeping there, honey," she chuckled. "Go unpack now. We have a lot to do." I wanted to argue, but Mom had already moved on to socializing.

Great. I was stuck with him.

I decided to let it go for now. It was Christmas Eve, after all.

The rest of the day was spent enjoying Grandma's cooking, decorating the tree, and catching up with family. Dinner was a blessing and we stayed by the fireplace talking for hours after that. It made me forget about the sleeping arrangements. But as the night rolled around, though, it hit me again.

Standing in the doorway, I stared at the single futon we'd be sharing.

"For god's sake..." I mumbled, changing into a top and pajama shorts.

Jungkook walked in a few minutes later. "You're overthinking it," he said, climbing onto the bed. "Just go to sleep."

I rolled my eyes at him and slipped under the covers. "You could have put on a shirt to sleep for once."

"It's a hundred degrees here, Jieun," he said. "You know that grandma doesn't like changing the temperature when it's winter."

I sighed and turned off the light. We both lay there, the only light in the room was coming from our phone screens as we scrolled through social media.

Having Jungkook so close was unsettling. I could hear his breathing and feel the warmth radiating from his body. It was impossible to ignore how our situations had changed recently. Now, there we were, inches apart on the same futon.
