Chapter Thirty Three.

Rachel's P.O.V.

I woke up the next day to a commotion going on outside, a large panic flooded throughout the pack as I pushed myself into a sitting position.

"Who is it?" I called to the person banging down our bedroom door, glancing at the clock on my nightstand that read '5:15' indicating that the sun was starting to rise but it was still dark outside "Reese, Alpha we've got a problem on the northern border" Tate groaned at this and rolled over, onto his stomach, burying his face into his pillow as I stood up from the bed and reached for Tate's discarded grey T-shirt. Tugging it on, I made my way towards the door and opened it.

"What problem?" I asked when Reese stepped inside looking much like a bloody mess with his hands and bare chest covered in the crimson red blood of someone else. He looked frantic "The Raptors have set their warning" that was all it took for Tate to jolt upright with his hair sticking up in every direction and tired eyes wide.

"What?" he demanded, taking in Reese's form as the thick metallic scent of the blood reached my nose. The smell was sickening "Three guards, Alpha" Tate tossed the sheets off and jumped to his feet, not bothering to pull on a pair of sweatpants over his purple teddy bear boxers as he rushed out of the room, slamming his fist into the wall unconsciously. The sound startled Holden.

"Send Rose to take care of him" I instructed Reese who's jaw clenched as he stared at the hole in the wall with Holden's wailing in the background.

"You're going?" he asked in surprise. Glancing back over at the clock, I quickly nodded my head in reply "I assume that Alec and Luke are already there?" Reese looked like he was about to object but his mouth clamped shut the moment I asked the question "Yes" with that I headed out the door but paused and stuck my head back into the room.

"Get Rose" I repeated then was off. My legs unconsciously carried me down the hall and to the flight of stairs, dashing down them, I rushed out the back sliding glass door and down the porch steps. The grass was damp beneath my bare feet and the sky was a dark purple.

"Luna, something terrible happened" a man I'd only seen once or twice before informed me with a torch in hand, the only proper source of light for miles.

"I'm aware of that, please get inside and stay with your family" I instructed the man, about to jog off into the forest tree line when he stopped me.

"Luna, please take this" he offered me his torch which I took with gratitude and send him a thankful smile.

"Thank you" I breathed then took off into the woods but not before seeing him nod and head back into the pack house. The forest was silent, too silent which meant that something was terribly wrong. The birds were quiet.

"Tate!" I called out when I reached the northern border and noticed a light coming from one of the clearings. The lights were from people with torches gathered around something.

"Tate?" I called again when I noticed him stood at the front of the crowd. Pushing my way through, I was about to ask him what was going on when my words caught in my throat. In front of me was the sight of a woman hung from her neck, suspended from a tree with her throat slit and blood streaming down her naked body, gathering in a pool down by her feet. The woman was one of us, a pack member but not just any pack member it was Nattily, the former Beta's mate and Brice's wife.

"No" I breathed, staggering back a few steps as I watched while Alec tried to cut her body down. Luke was covered in blood but didn't seem to be effected by it like everyone else was.

"Rachel-." Tate's voice trailed off when he noticed me. He slowly reached a blood covered hand out towards me but I swatted it away.

"Don't touch me!" I yelled, dropping my torch but luckily instead of setting the grass alight it went out.
