Rachel's P.O.V.
I was walking on the shoreline with the waves lapping at my bare feet. I clutched a pair of brown gladiator sandals in one hand and pushed a stray strand of dark chocolate coloured hair behind my ear. The sun was searing hot but the pink beach hat I wore along with the big pair of sun glasses I'd bought from a small surf shop on my way to the beach provided enough shade to shield my face from the blinding rays of the afternoon sun.
I glanced around at the busy beach as a gush of wind swept over it, causing the skirt of my baby blue sun dress to whip around my legs violently. I noticed a bunch of children playing in the shallow waters, laughing and splashing each other playfully while a content mother in a swimsuit stood nearby watching.
My gaze lowered to y stomach and my free hand instinctively went to caress the large bump. It had been just over five months and since werewolf pups eveloped faster it meant that the baby was due any time soon. Dropping my hand back to my side I again searched the beach, spotting a cluster of rocks in the distance with a man stood on the edge, gazing out over the horizon.
"Wesley!" I called and started jogging towards the boulders. Wesley glanced in my direction, a bright smile lighting up his strong features; he had midnight black hair and a pair of stunning sea green eyes that shown with so much love and adoration as soon as he laid eyes upon me. Making his way down the rocks and back onto the shore, bare feet digging into the golden sand as his Hawaiian themed swimming thrunks hung low on his slender hips.
He opened his arms, waiting for me to barrel right into them and scooped me up, twirling me around as soon as I did "I've missed you so much!" I exclaimed, thightening my arms around his neck when he placed me back down on my feet then stood up on the tips of my toes, since he was about two feet taller than me and pulled him into a desparate hug.
"I've missed you too, love" he said, his voice low and raspy like the roughness of the sea, roaring and crashing onto the shore at our feet.
"After what Kilo told me...I thought I lost you forever" I muttered into his shoulder, the glasses, hat and sandals already abandoned, scattered out around us in the warm sand.
"I could never leave you, either of you" he assured me, his arms tightening around my waist as best he could with my swollen stomach pressed in between us. Pulling away, I met his gaze.
"I thought you were dead, Wes" I whispered, my eyes filling with unshed tears, it had been nearly four months since I'd last seen him and most of the time I spent trying to cope with his 'death'
"I thought so too but then I remembered you, I remembered our pup, I had to fight, I couldn't leave the two of you behind" he explained, tenderly cupping the side of my face in one of his palms, forcing me to meet his concerned but loving gaze. His hands were so big compared to mine.
"They said that you got shot, that the Hunters threw you into the ocean to drown-." I trailed off, my mind contemplating the war taking place between the Hunters and the Werewolves. Due to Wesley being of an Alpha bloodline that made him a chosen candidate to lead an army into battle against the Hunters.
"They did-." Wesley agreed, nodding his head as he motioned towards his right shoulder where a round scar was placed. The pale scar stood out against his dark, tan skin and was obviously the result of a gunshot woundwhere the bullet had entered.
"But they didn't expect me to be able to swim to shore in time to save my own life" he added, eyes flickering over the beach and ocean. It was the very sea he had been tossed into a few months earlier only it was a few miles north, off the edge of a cliff.
