Rachel’s P.O.V.

Tate and I woke up at around six PM to the sound of Harper rasping on the bedroom door, asking if she could come in.

“Yeah shore” I called sitting up but flinching when a sudden pain shot through me from my scars. Tate groaned and shifted in his sleep, his arm slung over his face, shielding his eyes from the light. Harper slightly opened the door to peek inside then strolled in with Kelly and Anna following behind.

“I’m sorry that I woke you but Lord Braxton ordered for us to see to your dressing for the ball” Harper explained setting a gold, backless ball gown down on the foot of the bed while Kelly laid Tate’s suit out for him to dress in and Anna brought the shoes.

“We’ll give you two some space” Harper insisted then they all left, wanting to give me and Tate some privacy.

“I understand Harper, no need to explain yourself” I assured as Tate stirred again, this time breathing in a sharp breath as he blinked his eyes open to look at me.

“What time is it?” he groggily asked, running a hand through his messy bed hair. I glanced at the clock on the nightstand “Quarter past six, the ball starts at eight” he sighed and leaned up onto his elbows since I was still straddling his waist with my palms pressed against his chest.

“Then we’ve got time” he said reaching a hand up to cup my face and hungrily kissing my lips. I couldn’t resist kissing him back but knew that if I didn’t stop, I wouldn’t be able to later on and pressed hard on his chest, forcing him back down onto the bed.

“We need to get ready for the ball, the girls are probably waiting outside until you can control yourself” I whispered and Tate groaned sinking back down into the pillows, staring up at the ceiling.

“But it’s so hard  to do when I’m around you” he complained and I giggled throwing one leg over him to get up off the bed, smoothing out my white night gown as I did.

“Well you’re just going to have to learn how to control yourself then, huh?” I shot back and Tate flipped onto his stomach, burying his face into the pillows as he grunted out in playful annoyance.

“Why do you have to be so difficult?” he asked but the pillows made it sound muffled so I had to strain to hear. I glanced over to where the crib stood in the corner of the room and found that Holden was still fast asleep.

“What, you thought it would be easy?” I teased turning to grin slightly at Tate but found that he was still smothering himself in the pillows so I patted his calve through the bed sheets.

“Common up you go, you have to get dressed” I instructed and again Tate groaned out in protest. I rolled my eyes and made my way back to the bedroom door with a smile plastered across my face. Opening the door caused Kelly to tumble into the room while Anna and Harper stared at me like they’d just been caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

“Curious, are we?” I taunted glancing between the three and causing Kelly to blush while Anna scratched at the back of her neck nervously. I noticed that Tate hadn’t moved an inch.

“Tate, up!” I ordered and he grunted lowly as I stalked towards him but he still didn’t move so I grabbed hold of his foot and tugged him onto the floor.

“What the-you’re mean, woman!” he exclaimed glaring up at me playfully as I in turn smirked down at him, shrugging my shoulders innocently “I told you to get up” he pushed himself up and ran a hand over his face, blinking his eyes tightly a few times to try to completely wake up.
