Rachel’s P.O.V.
When I woke up the next morning the sun was just starting to rise over the horizon, coating the bedroom in an orange light. Hayden was still fast asleep beside me with his arms wrapped around my waist while Holden happily babbled in his crib. Slowly pealing the covers away and untangling Hayden’s arms from around me, I stood up and headed into the bathroom to take a shower, dressing in a pair of black jogging shorts, a grey sports bra with matching trainers and pulled my hair into a messy bun.
“Seriously, how long does it take you to shower, woman?” Hayden exclaimed banging on the bathroom door for the umpteenth time. I clipped Tate’s necklace into place then breathed a laugh and flung the bathroom door open.
“What were you expecting? That this just happens naturally?” I asked motioning to my body as Hayden barged into the bathroom, slamming the door shut, calling out from the other side of the bathroom door “You’re beautiful even with bed hair and bad breath!” I rolled my eyes but laughed at his words as I made my way over to where Holden was standing up in his crib, hands gripping the side.
“You want to come to mommy?” I asked as he fell back onto his rear, dramatically waving his clenched fists around, reaching out to me.
“Then come to mommy” I cooed picking him up and positioning him on my hip, placing a kiss to his cheek as I tickled his tummy, causing him to laugh. Hayden stepped out of the bathroom, dressed in a pair of black sweatpants with white trainers.
“That was fast” I said as Hayden ran a hand through his still wet hair, going over to grab his red hoodie sat out on the foot bed.
“Fortunately this does happen naturally” he cockily boasted, motioning towards his slender but muscular build and revealed torso with the noticeable outlines of a six pack forming.
“Yeah shore rub it in, will you?” I playfully said making my way over to quickly peck his cheek and to snatch Holden’s baby bag up from the foot of the bed. Hayden’s arm was draped around my waist with his eyes boring into mine.
“You really are beautiful in the mornings” he suddenly whispered, kissing my forehead as I playfully shoved at his chest laughing.
“Whatever, I look like a freakish baboon!” I exclaimed as Hayden made a half-half gesture with his hand in agreement, shrugging his shoulders.
“Hey!” I yelled, punching him in the arm and causing him to laugh before he wrapped his arm back around me, kissing my cheek.
“I’m kidding, you look more like a cute little monkey than a baboon” he muttered, pulling away when Holden started crying, tugging on my bra and hair.
“You hungry, little man?” Hayden asked poking Holden’s side which got Holden to stop crying and laugh before he was wailing again. I shifted Holden to sit more comfortably on my hip and sighed.
“I better go feed him before training starts” I said, kissing Hayden’s cheek before I left, heading downstairs and into the kitchen to fix Holden his breakfast. Afterwards I left him with Rebecca who gladly enjoyed spending time with her grandson and started heading for the training clearing. Hayden was already there, along with everyone else by the time I arrived.
“You’re late” Dalton announced as I approached them but I ignored the disapproving tone in his voice and shrugged my shoulders asking “Yeah, so?” he wasn’t my trainer anymore so I wasn’t running on a deadline. Dalton’s jaw clenched as Hayden stepped forward, holding his hoodie up to me.
“You forgot this” I couldn’t help but smile since he knew that whenever I would wear running shorts I’d always wear a hoodie over my sports bra because I’d feel too exposed.
