Today was the big day, Megan dressed up in her little police uniform and got ready for school. She looked over at Leon who wasn't wearing his, she tilted her head, "Why aren't you dressed up silly? Don't you know what today is?"
"I know, but I don't want it to get dirty."
"That's fair, well then let's head to the bus stop. We don't want to be late." Leon followed Megan to their bus stop. Their average school day was nothing out of the ordinary. Megan was playing around with Leon and a bit of his friends at recess when suddenly Leon felt sick.
He stopped playing for a bit and clenched his stomach, Megan turned over to him worried, "Leon, are you okay?"
Leon didn't respond, he just felt something hurting in his stomach. Before Megan could ask again he started to puke, his friends noticed and looked at him.
"Aw gross!"
"He threw up!"
"Teacher!"
Megan rushes over to him, "Leon! Are you okay? Let's take you to the nurse." She quickly puts her arm around his shoulder and takes him to the nurse. When they arrived Megan was sent back to continue recess while Leon stayed in the nurse's office.
When the bell rang to signal recess was over she noticed something in the corner of her eye. It was her father taking Leon home. She assumes it's because he is feeling sick and needs to get some rest. She lowers her head and goes back to class.
Oh no... is Leon sick? He can't be sick, we were supposed to go to the station today. Please let it be just get a bad tummy ache and he'll be okay.
Megan couldn't help but keep her mind focused on Leon the whole school day, she would hate for Leon to end up staying home and miss the day, or her father would just cancel it all together.
The school day ends and she heads to her bus, she feels uneasy about the possibility of Leon being sick.
I hope he's okay, he's been looking forward to this. I want him to be there, I want him to feel the joy I felt whenever I go...
The bus came to her stop and she got off quickly rushing home. She opens the door to see her father coming out of Leon's room, she walks up to him, "Is he going to be okay? Will he make it to the station?..."
"Don't worry sweetie, I gave Leon some medicine and he was resting for a bit. I didn't think he would get a stomach ache, did anything happen at school?"
She shook her head, "No... we were just playing and he got sick out of nowhere..."
"Could be just a stomach bug, they don't usually last long." He then heads to the kitchen to get Leon some more water, Megan heads over to Leon's room. She slowly steps inside and spots him in the bed, "Leon... are you feeling any better?"
Leon looked over at Megan and gave her a small smile, "Yeah... I'm feeling a bit better..."
"Were you throwing up a lot when you got home?"
"No... only like... once or twice, but Dad gave me some medicine and I think it's going away."
"That's good... I would've been very upset if you missed today, I wanted to see your face light up when we take you to the station..."
"Don't worry Megan... I'm feeling better, so I won't miss today."
She softly smiled, "Yeah, I'll go tell Dad you're feeling a bit better. Now go put on the police uniform so we can match," she then headed over to her father who was on his way to Leon's room, "Hey Dad, Leon said he is feeling a bit better."
