From then on Megan and Leon formed a bond between the two, sharing toys, watching TV together, and playing their favorite game cops and robbers. Megan's father managed to clean out his study and turned it into Leon's room. School was a bit difficult for Leon, he had been picked on for being new and such but Megan stepped in to help Leon.

She felt proud of herself for stepping up for Leon, she didn't want him to have a bad school life so she was willing to make it better for him. It didn't last much longer since Leon soon grew to be the most well-liked boy in class. He made new friends and didn't feel like a bit of an outcast.

One of those days Megan walked over to Leon during recess, "Hey Leon, do you want to-" but was cut off by her classmates running up to him.

"Hey Leon, want to play tag?"

"No way, he's gonna play kickball with us."

"Not fair, he played with you guys yesterday. It's our turn."

She tried to make her way towards Leon but couldn't, she could see how much Leon was trying to make everyone happy with his kindness. How he would promise them that they will play another time.

She saw an opportunity to talk to him and quickly took that chance, she tapped on his shoulders, "Hey Leon."

Leon turns over to Megan with a bright smile, he looks over to his new friends, "I'll catch up with you guys," he then turns his attention to her, "Yeah?"

"Well... I thought we were going to play together."

Leon felt that she was a bit disappointed that Leon was hanging out with his friends instead of her. He starts to feel bad, but then again they always can play when they head home so he figured things would be different.

"We can play when we get home, then you can have me all to yourself okay?"

"But-"

One of the kids shouted for Leon, "Leon! Come on, let's play!"

Leon then gave a small wave to Megan and rushed over to the other kids, leaving her alone. She starts to feel a bit bitter that Leon is hanging out with his friends, but she doesn't want to feel that way so she huffs out, "Guess we can play after school..."

Megan wasn't very upset at the thought but lately, she's started to notice that things are changing. Once Leon was now part of their family her father has been paying more attention to Leon than her.

She would assume that it was just because Leon was trying to get used to his new family and that her father was only trying his best. But it's been a year now and her father is still giving Leon more attention. She then looks over at Leon playing with his friends and walks off to play on her own.

I don't like this feeling...

When school was finally over the two went to their school bus, and sat down together. Megan still felt bitter about Leon not playing with her during recess but decided to shrug it off. She then remembered something which made her bitter mood go away in an instant.

"Oh, I almost forgot."

Leon turns over to her, "What?"

"Tomorrow is finally the day."

"What day exactly?"

"Bring your kids to work day."

"That's tomorrow?"

Megan nods with excitement, "Sure is. This means that Dad will meet us at the house after school so he can take us to the police station. Oh, it's going to be exciting. Your first time to "Bring your kids to work day" I promise you don't want to miss it."
